You know that thing Kessel does where he floats around the blue line, taking the easy way out of the back check and waiting for that breakout pass? I saw Pat Kane doing that very same thing quite a bit tonight.

If only Kessel was on a better team, where he wasn't the centre of attention.

- BetterCallSaul

Kessel and Kane are equals. Kessel just scores more with less talent.

They have utterly melted down three straight seasons under his leadership.

With decent leadership I truly beleive these Leafs would have been a playoff team. But that's just me.

One word Saul:

Results.

What have they been since he has been a captain?

- habman75

So by that logic Alfredsson couldn't be considered a good captain? Or Getzlaf? Or Iginla? None of those players ever led their teams to championships with the C.

Despite the crap Dion gets, he's again shutting-down the NHL's top players.

I just said that I "like" them FFS. Its just that I am not particularly emotionally invested anymore, nor would I spend a dime on them. I get emails from them for promotions, or for example when a "block of tickets" to a game vs. Buffalo is available. I always hit 'reply' to those with the same message: "bwawhahhhaha. how about you win a few games before you ask me for $?"

They don't deserve investment at this point.

- fifty__missions

so you like them but don't want to commit to them? Are u a female? Thats female logic. Don't want to spend money on them fine, but if a new team in the gta opened up you'd jump ship...band wagon!

I freaking love your passion Roger. But you, and you in particular, is what is wrong with the leafs. Absolutely amazing that you don't get it.

As good as it is to have a Captain like Toews, this can't be pinned on Dion solely. Sure, he's not ideal, but we simply do not have the supporting cast to challenge for the cup. It's not Dion's fault that we don't have a good 1C, nor that we had years of mediocre goaltending, nor that our lower lines have been historically worse than useless.

This is neither a defence nor incrimination of his captaincy, just my own opinion that we need to actually have the talent on the ice before we can really determine whether having him as captain is detrimental or not...

My comment was more an observation that Kessel catches flak from everyone for an act of perceived laziness, yet everyone gushes over Kane even though he shares similar flaws.

yup!!!! He hasn't been as a good as he was early last year but still good. Haters gonna hate. Take the C from him if you want, but who do you give it to. This fan base is (frank)ed. Clarkson was the worst player in the league, now he's a beast. People need some patience before you spew hatred

It makes laugh you think my comment proves I'm such a delusional homer. All the stats say they are equals.

Fact Kessel puts up better stats with less talent.

It's the Leafs. Every player gets crap. You put Shea Weber on the Leafs and all of a sudden he gets non-stop crap.

Who gives a (frank) about finals? Haha.

No one starts the season thinking "I bet my team can raise the East/West Champion banner next October."

Finals mean Richard. Cup is success, everything else is a failed season.

I hear what you are saying Lums. But the guy has carried baggage for quite a while now. How long does he need to carry it until people realize he is a problem? Honest answer here Lums.

Using your logic, Pacciorety has put up more goals then Kessel has ever had. I was not trying to insult you, trying to make you wake up to a fact that Vancouver of all teams have shown more success than the Leafs in the pas 40 years. And I (frank)ing hate Vancouver.
