Carlyle mixes the lines: He's panicking and not letting his players develop chemistry.
Quenneville mixes the lines: He's fixing what he doesn't like and keeping his players sharp.

Back when Quinn was coach he rolled 4 lines, and people said he was senile, and that all the good coaches loaded up the ice time on their top players.
Fast forward to today, and all the contending teams roll 4 lines.
