Did anyone read Ryan Wilson's blog to the Sabres today?

I don't know if I should laugh or be sad.

Neither, just be along for the ride.

Consistency is the issue with him.

I think Kris Baker should have Peterson as the #2 on the depth chart behind Ullmark. He's played his first 4 games for Notre Dame, has a 1.50 gaa and a .948 sv. Ullmark is off to a bit of a rough start this year with MODO. I would agree with the rest of the chart though. He's got a nice site with some good info on the prospects.

Watching Petersen last night against Vermont, the guy seems to be a gamer, which is awesome. Time will tell if it translates to the NHL, but as of now, goaltending looks solid in the future. I wouldn't be surprised to see Petersen oust Ullmark as "the guy".

But he is so persecuted . And Teddy can't coach and Tim is a terrible GM. When are you going to learn these things !

I think Ullmark gets the slot nod based on the experience factor and the fact he's been playing in the SEL over there. But I would agree, Petersen has great potential.

Ullmark is going to get every chance to win and keep the job, and he could very well succeed. I just won't be the least bit surprised if Petersen ends up outplaying him. Both have a long way to go, though.

The one thing about Petersen, though, is that, with the exception of yesterday, he's had a pretty easy road at Notre Dame. Even yesterday, Notre Dame got a lot of bounces to go their way. I'm anxious to keep an eye on him throughout the year, as the schedule gets tougher, which makes NBCSN's new Irish-heavy TV contract a blessing this year.

where do you think makorov fits in the equation then? if the other two are such solid goalies expected to make the team, that leaves mak the odd man out.

IMO he could get 1st crack at it.

When is the bigger question with Neuvirth, Enroth, and Hackett all ahead of him/them.

Maaky is a tough cat to judge gerbs because as DD says he can be wildly inconsistent. If he works on that, he'll compete here. It could very well be that you see one of Makarov or Lieuwen here next year as Peterson and Ullmark get the value needed experience in Rochester for a few years.

edit- I forgot about Hackett.

My guess is they only re-sign one of Neuvirth or Enroth and have Makarov and Hackett compete for jobs here next year.

good problem to have i guess, the amount names we have for the slot is pretty ridiculous. It'd be nice to see one of the current non-sabres steal a spot next year

so far hes been pretty much lights out in roch, we will have to sit back and evaluate the situation all year to look for consistency.

Thats a good plan i would like to think. Whoever has the better save percentage this year we keep and then have the other two duke it out.

Don Stevens, the Amerks play by play guy was raving about Lieuwen the other day on GR so they seem to have a pretty strong tandem down there. What they do with Hackett is the big question.

I still feel our goalie of the future hasn't been drafted/acquired yet but what i've heard of petersen is fairly promising. It's a shame i probably won't get the chance to watch him until he turns pro.

So hard to judge . Most goalies have so many ups and downs in their development.
