You have it wrong.

They didn't save the 800k cap hit for the week, they saved the portion of salary the player would have received (a portion of his cap hit) as cap space for future moves if needed.

So if they do this multiple times this season, they actually add these savings.

This could easily make no sense but it's crystal clear in my head.

It's not that much I agree. But probably more than 100k.

WTF happened to him. Hey this reminds me. I saw James Sheppard on the score sheet the other night. Drafted 9th over all in 2006..I had completely forgot about him - then remembered he had that ATV accident that (frank)ed him up. Maybe Frattin's another Sheppard?
