It's really hard to see from this angle, but I think Burrows also bites Emelin...

- l3ig_l2ecl

Hmmm. It's not a late hit, IMO. If that hit was shoulder to shoulder up against the boards with Emelin skating away, no one would be talking about it being late. Happens in every game in the NHL every night.

He did catch his chin wit his shoulder, not elbow. but Emelin was half bent over from his follow through.

If Burrows gets anything it should be for targeting the head. My guess is maybe 1-2 games, but it's definitely not a viscous hit.

To this day, they say if you fondly remember '99, you can hear ghosts whimper "no goal".

Then you remember ghosts aren't real.

If you don't think it's a late hit then you don't understand the parameters or definition of "late hit". Burrows is not even close to committed to the hit when Emelin gets rid of the puck.

Arpon does a great job illustrating that Eller's job is one of the hardest ones on the team, and Bourque is right there with him.

I think this might be more a product of coaches on opposing teams purposefully matching their better players against these 2 to exploit their deficiencies

I think it is about sheltering Desharnais. Therrien is pushing his stupid French agenda and using Eller who is Danish who nobody likes as his scapegoat.

Meh, I just think it happens every game on a dman who passes the puck up the boards and the forehecking forward finishes his hit. If you watch those hits, its the same amount of time, if not more sometimes.

The difference is the contact to the head.

If that hit was clean, admit that none of you would have paid any attention to the "lateness" of it.

It wasn't late, but it was a long way from clean. Burrows saw he was going to miss his target and moved to make whatever contact he could instead of flying right past his man.

Had it been a clean hit, it would have also been a useless hit anyway. But it wasn't. He clocked a guy in the head. Whether he meant to or not is irrelevant.
