He took a defensive posture and took your previous post out of context. I'll give you that. But I still think the insults were uncalled for. He's actually quite the intelligent guy. Just hit a nerve as with many Oiler fans over the Myers debacle.

Point taken.

Its true but that team would need to be giving up a future seabrook and I think the bottom teams are finally learning you cant do that and expect to win with a older player because the top teams keep staying elite when you give them a few young pieces to stay under the cap and they turn out just as good as what they gave away.
- jake24242

I don't know what that package would be, put probably a huge over payment. IF there is a team that is willing to overspend on getting a top p airing guy bc they have nothing like him on their roster or currently in their prospect pool.

Might take the gamble?

But ultimately he doesn't move, you don't lose a guy like that.

We have our guards up for a reason. And most of us get pretty fed up with a lot of the bullpoop that gets spewed in here. It happens.
- ChetManly

It's the non stop " UGh trade away your top players or you will always be bad, I cant believe you fans wont trade away Hall ugh" crap that gets really annoying.

I know they are going to retire with at least two cup rings
- ChetManly

Yep. But both players are what, 25ish? By 2020 when they are in the middle of their primes as full players, they'll have already have had moved on from Sharp, Hossa, possible Seabrook, Crawford (as a starter), Richards, Bickell.. leaves a lot of room for the talent pool that is BRILLIANTLY put together by that front office. The Bowmans are doing things right.

Hes a big young D they never hit there stride till there late 20's aka Chara as the comparison everyone makes. He sucked on the islander and they moved past him.
- jake24242

Hes plays and looks like a number 3 now but he has the mold and pedigree to be a number 1.

I just think GMs and teams are willing to pay the price on how he looks on the Sabres and not pay for the potential.

I would like him on my team but not for the price tag of landing a "number 1"

I mean it would be a team like the Islanders and they would give up a guy like GRIFFIN REINHART and a first and have reinhart be just as good as seabrook for now a longer period and cheaper contract.

(frank) what I would give up for Toews... Can Chicago take our whole team for him and we keep the cap hit?

Milbury ruined that team... Chara, Bertuzzi, Spezza, Luongo, DiPietro... held onto too many crappy players who were past their primes and traded away young talents who had 1 bad season and their picks for said players. At least they got a damn fine core because of him.

Same id trade for him in a heartbeat if it was based on his play now cause it wouldn't cost a ton.

That Chara and a pick (Spezza) for yashin deal could be the most lopsided of all time.

yeah it would have to be a trade like that, if you are the Hawks, you have to start to be tempted at landing Reinhart and another asset.

Could really set your franchise up for more stability longer,

Ya if you think you can get myers for a 3rd round pick just because you want to well guess what to bad you arnt he will cost an overpayement to get because Buffalo doesn't have to move him so he will stay in buffalo till someone overpays for him. And if you don't want to pay the price then your only other option is to keep what you have and keep going down the same road developing your own players. Or make a lesser move for a lesser player. If you cant understand those simple facts there is something very wrong.

- Oilfan19

Toews is a player that can be replicated for the most part. There's already 5-6 others like him out there in Bergeron, Datsyuk, Kopitar, Tavares, Sedin, Krecji. The trick is to find one of those in the draft and grab that sonuvafemale dog.

would you give up Gardiner for him? Package him up with another prospect or pick.
I think thats not of the realm of possibilities

If im the hawks yes for sure thats why the top teams stay at the top the islander lose that deal badly.

Look at the leafs history of trading picks and players for a old star player like Olan Nolan and many more. Its the single reason they are where they are today. You can not trade for a player at the end of his career and pay top end prospect talent back the other way you lose every single time.

Yeah but at that age and with that type of Leadership. Toews has a Messier type of leadership quality. JT I can see possibly becoming better than Toews though.

Yashin was a (frank)ing wasted talent. He screwed himself over, Ottawa screwed him over, his agent screwed him over (by placing WAY too much emphasis that he was a megastar, which he really wasn't). Ottawa should have nutured him and not (frank)ing him over while giving preferential treatment to Daigle and Bonk. Yashin could have been to the Senators what Alfie was had all three of player, GM, and agent calmed the (frank) down.

absolutely, I wouldn't want to lose a future stud dman like that, but if the Islanders falter for some reason and that pressure to make the playoffs creeps in, teams do some really rash trades

What actual fact he made none. Mine where and are 100% spot on you arnt getting a star/ potential star for nothing very simple. The team trading for star player always overpays and if you dont they dont get traded. Why would Buffalo do a deal to get ride of myers for nothing?

Good try trying to stick up for a fellow fan but you all know im right.
