Wow, there was some dude here yesterday who might be having an aneurysm right now over statements like these. You guys are the best.

- John Jaeckel

JJ, that dude may have been me... and I don't think the Hawks played that "pretty" last night either...giving up a goal with 4 minutes left because Oduya decided to take the stairs on his way to the ice instead of getting in front of the puck hurt the team....as did Bickell's fantastic Bobby Ryan Free Goal Give-away....no one has mentioned the inability to score on a 4v3 pp in OT where not one Hawk was moving around the ice and duncs just kept serving Hossa pancakes...

I have been impressed with steeger so far and seems like hes making the most of his opportunities, but I do think there are more holes than some choose to realize..

The excuse of Richards not knowing the system is a farce. This system is not unique and he has been playing in the league forever.
Rozsival played about 30 secs on the PK last night...Red flag is up on him.

- Al

I don't disagree on Rozsival but that is ALL on Bowman who signed him to a 2 year deal after the cup win. HE has a knack for signing washed up veterans and while thinking he can squeeze every remainder of hustle out of them like he got with Handzus in 2013.

I'm 110% against Kruger playing with Kane. If anything you put Smith up there, who was a very good against STL centering Kane. Kruger doesn't have the offensive skill set to play with a Kane. Hell, Kruger doesn't have the offensive skill set to play past the 4th line. Which is fine, but for people to keep on pretending he is something he is not.....

Teuvo has 1 goal in 8 games and shooting a robust 5%.

How about this... How many teams in the NHL have a 35yr old 1000 point right wing they call upon to help kill 6 penalties in the same night? Pretty sure just one. Hossa remains a beast.

Thought you would enjoy that. I had to take a mental vacation from twitter when I saw all the people burning down the beat guys about if Raanta down, "Could they afford Teuvo?".

Make. IT. Stop. PLEASE!!!!

I wonder if Jay and the Indian are feeling a little down with Versteeg looking very much like 2010 Versteeg?

IMO

Smith and Krueger add nothing to the Hawks. Neither one of them can score all they can do is play PK hockey. The Hawks have plenty of talent in Rockford that can do a far better job than these guys and score too. How about a 4th line of Morin-McNeil-Danult, definitely better than what they have now. If you think I'm out of my mind, especially Wiz and Steve Rain, don't hesitate to say it, I wont take offense to it. Also while I'm at it, I think this team is especially boring to watch, nothing like the old days but them my name is Maggie not Zus

So could Nick.

Didn't seem to get him too far with Q.

Wonder how everyone is enjoying the 36 yr old Rozsival?
Ship has sailed. With the addition of the tremendously talented Richards, this team is headed places.

Leddy has cooled off. a goal and assist the last 6 games with only 2 wins during that time. Hes getting his ice time now at least.

You guys can read whatever you want (and think whatever you want). Over the past few days, have had plenty of posts that didn't mention him at all. Talked about shot selection, PP fail, lack of presence in front of the net, etc.

There's plenty to get riled about.
Richards being the 2014/15 (if he sticks that long) version of Brunette (w/o the size and ability to get to front of the net). Does Stan/Q double down on a bad bet? The mantra about learning a "new system" is the red herring in the room. Any guy with this guy's experience should take the preseason and at most a regular season game or 2 to get acclimated. It ain't that hard.

Square peg, meet round hole.
Same goes for some other puzzling combinations.
Loved the Bickell blind backhanded pass right to Bobby Ryan. That guy made no mistake where that puck was going!

Count the shifts Kruger/Smith played last night in 3rd period of a close game with Bickell on the bench. Both had more than most...Including Kane and Richards.

I thought it was funny how the HAWKS players were trying to get Hossa to score the winner, think it just shows they are a very confident bunch

While most of you aren't wrong about your points(the typical stuff like PP issues, 2C, a bad game here or there by Bickell/Versteeg, Rozsival being slow, etc), some need to understand that if you were to critique the efforts of anyone in the league the same way you do for the Hawks on a game to game basis you'd wind up convincing yourselves that all 30 teams would have major problems come playoff time(if not counting them out of the playoffs altogether).

Not everyone is like this, but some posters really just confuse me with their complaint/appreciation ratio.

Right now, this team is in as good a spot as any of the elite contenders out West, just gotta be healthy when the playoffs come and until then maintain a solid spot in the division standings.

Those guys start 70% of the time in the D zone and are sparingly used if the game is close sooooooooo really not surprising that they don't score or generate more offense. Read a stat sheet.

I think that says it all.

This team still has a lot of talent and they are the harbinger of their own criticism most of the time anyway.

Hossa is only getting older and had 2013 marred by a back thing and last year fell off a cliff production wise after the all star break.

Because math some other veteran probably has to go and a role player or two depending on how many dollars Saad gets sooooooo its kind of Cup or bust this year because next year will be a little more raw.

Marian Hossa is one of the most underrated players in... well... ever.

One of the best two-way wingers the league has ever seen.
