The point he's making is that the Hawks (for the most part) are doing all the things that make you an elite team in this league. They've had a short-term string of bad luck here over a small sample size in the season.
- CaptainBlackhawk

I get your point, but ALL is stretching it a bit. Because ALL would include winning and putting teams away.

11 games now? 12 percent of season?

All kidding aside, I really believe this is who the hawks are. This is who they were most of last year. They are a team with a great core and personell chaos. I am not one that believes there is the huge lack of depth, there is a lack of coaching poise and faith to let the guys go out there and build something.

We are blessed, like all great teams of the past who have elite prime time guys like Kane and Toews and solid defense and goaltending. While many interpret last years playoffs as they wish, I said it at the time and believe it today, they had success because their best players played big when needed. Toews and Kane and CC got you two rounds where they were outplayed much of it. Again, my take of it.

We are just seeing more of the same that we saw down the stretch last year. Psychotic line adjustments every shift... no poise...but that is my rant.

Just, who is everyone???

Some are happy with what they see. Others are far from happy (me, for one). This team, I truly believe, needs a big shakeup. But maybe they're just in a bad luck funk. I personally cannot believe the Hawks didn't find the net in the 3rd, so there could be something to the bad luck argument right now. Problem is, there's no law--not even of averages--that has to change in this season.

There is clearly a group that believes things are just fine -- you're in the boat with the rest of us thinking this team has some real issues, going nowhere in a hurry. I bring up the SOG thing as we've heard here in the last few days that because we lead the league or are at the top of SOG per game that somehow we're doing great, regardless of what the eye test shows the rest of us.

I don't believe in puck luck along -- you make your puck luck with hard work and smart play. Yes, you can have a few games where you do the right things and can't dent the twine. But that typically doesn't go on for as long as what we've seen here early.

This team is essentially the same as last year.
Lost Bollig.
Lost Leddy.
Sent Regin to Rockford.
Brought Morin up (thus far).
Steeger is supposedly fully recovered.

So you're (not you personally btw! the defenders of One Goal) telling me you only lost 1 cog (Leddy) that many would say wasn't a cog and everyone else is apparently healthy and this crap we've seen is what we're getting?

Doesn't add up for me.

This years club looks like last years in March as they stumbled towards the post season...

...but perhaps they can scratch into the post season yet again, and go on another run to glory.

Fire up the mantra!...Flip the switch!

Yes, I am cynical...but I'm waiting for the "mighty" Hawks to kick the crap out supposedly inferior opponents...and not just in "advanced stats".

Since buffalo game, opposing goalies have a .945 SV% against Hawks. That doesn't rhyme with "sustainable.

No.

He's saying in this small segment of the season, right now, for the Hawks, they've had horrible luck on the offensive end. They're getting quality chances, they're just getting stonewalled.

I'm done - the 2-3 of you that will sit here for the next few hours talking about how horrible this team is, how the Hawks are doomed, that horrible player Kane etc... can commiserate together.

- CaptainBlackhawk

Dude holy cow relax. The team is a funk and Q's line blender bewilders the bulk of us. This team is full of stud elite talent and yet they are asleep. This crap is why the blog is going south. Any thought or opinion that doesnt fall in line with the "In Crowd" is met with hostility. I dont remember seeing anyone say the team sucks. Its on target comments about whats on the ice. They need to wake up and stop with the drop pass stuff and take it north and south. Lots of guys are playing ehhhh hockey. We are entitled to the same opinion you are. Geeezus. Done with this. The group of 5 or whatever can sit here and roll the marbles back and forth.

Very relaxed. Curious why there's been such a dramatic spike of people leaving/not posting here? It's because there's much more intelligent hockey conversation than: This team is horrible! The Hawks suck! That Kaner is brutal! OMG, doom and gloom!

Again.. I dont recall seeing any Hawks suck stuff. Even the Chicago media brought up Kanes less then stellar stats. So, the point is if you dont agree with the comments out comes the tude about the posts. The team is not mentally dialed in. NO reason for it. This is a veteran team that has been there. I said before its early and hope the fog wears off. But whatever.

You're far more eloquent than me Grit...I agree completely.

So let's see if the SOG leaders can dent the twine tomorrow against the mighty Jets....

Perhaps...

...at least they should be, but considering the results so far I expect a one goal game with 10 to play.

But I'm sure the shot advantage will be breathtaking...

I do agree, there is that contingent.

This team just doesn't feel right to me and that could be because of any number of reasons and I suspect chemistry could be a big one. Maybe too many guys are super-wealthy now, have wives and kids and other interests, and just don't live and die for the other 22 on the roster anymore. That's why I feel a major shakeup is needed and I hope is coming. However, with this front office, I don't see it happening, so I hope I'm wrong.

Want an example of why they aren't scoring 5 on 5 - Toews gets the puck at center ice and breaks in over the blueline and dishes it to Versteeg on his right with no Leaf anywhere near him. The idiot lifts his leg and fires a wrist shot from the top of the circle. Had all day to take it to the net. Can't score on NHL goalies like that.

And Sharp did something similar breaking in with Kane, didn't even result in a shot on goal.

Team has little or no intensity thru the lineuo, especially in Eastern Conference games.

I expect this to be the last year for several guys... perhaps more than several. The Hawks simply can't continue to extend vets with fat raises...especially with the obscene paper that T&K are about the receive.

Exactly...

Its a function of lots of things. One of which, is like I have been saying, the rest of the league is catching up...most teams mimicing hawk style...

When a coach, for a season, stubbornly skates 2.5 lines and runs people out of town..well this is what you get. Does not send a great message through the system...regarding developing etc...

Can't get 3 shifts in a row with the same guys...I would be a fan of seeing that for a game.

Whatever Q decides on, somehow he has to get Kane, Saad and Sharp going. They are getting absolutely nothing out of those 3 guys. And I maintain it is largely because of inferior play at the 2 & 3C positions.

since 1/1/14 the hwks are a mediocre 21-17-11..and 1 goal short of the SC finals in between...and they have not won more than 2 in a row in regulation during these last 47 games.

other teams have caught up while the core has got big fat contracts...and if it wasnt for Craw bailing them out several times they are below .500...

This team is not passing the eye test or smell test....
