Good blog Jan, but I really don't like Kostka with Hunwick. I see no reason to why not bring up Allen or McIlrath. I highly doubt they would perform any worse than (frank)ing Kostka... - Jimboou

Chris Mueller cant be our 3rd line Center. At some point in the year Miller or Hayes has to step up and grab that position. - pfun1000
Until Mueler messes up badly, the job is his. Miller has had his opportunities and he's faltered. Unless Miller seriously steps up his game, then he may get another chance; otherwise, I think he's trade bait.
Hayes needs a season in the minors. He skates like Brian Boyle. I just don't see what everyone else sees on this kid. Sorry. |

Hayes is great at creating turnovers and he definitely skates a lot better than Boyle. Good offensive instincts...he has poise with the puck. He's willing to be patient and wait for the play to develop before getting rid of the puck. It's hard not to see the potential with this kid. I do agree he's very raw and could use some seasoning. |

Well he has only played 5 professional games above the college level. I think it is a little early to lose hope in the kid |

I agree on most... what i didnt sense was the teams philosophy as to Hayes ...
we have a very solid top 6...brass -zucc nash krieds MSL STepan
the bottom 6 are where the rotation can work all season...using the mix of talent for any reason from injury to maych up to whos hot
we can put a top 6 3rd & 4th line out every nite
Hayes like Duke will benefit from being here but used regularly w/muller or malone
depending...
STaal is ready to attack.... close deal &let em go w.gman
Mac & Klein are fine and will help him get his mojo back ,saw early some nice reads & step ups ..now he's trying to do to much ....good way to reboot with out giving up a ton of goals, less pressure |

i don't get what miller has done wrong, he came into camp looking really really good, then had 2 bad games in which the entire team sucked and then got demoted, how about given our second best prospect a decent chance as well |

How did Burrows only get 3 games when his hit was far more late than Moore's |

Regardless of how he skates, Hayes has
Done more w his hands and IQ in 5 games
Than Boyle did in 5 years. Offensively that
Is.
Tho I will add that BB's SHG against the
Kings in tge finals was one of the great one man efforts
I've seen. A thing of beauty tho a total
Anomaly for him. |

His offensive upside. He can handle puck much better than Boyle. |

GameDay boys! Hopefully get Stepan back in 2 games, Boyle will be back by end of the month. When Stepan returns there will be stability with the lines and hopefully allows Duclair and one of Hayes/Miller to stay in the lineup. |

He definitely needs some seasoning, or at least play in a role with less responsibility like the 3c. But I don't see any comparisons to Boyle, much better skater, you can't even compare the two as far as offensive instinct, play making and hands. Next time he plays just watch him closely in the offensive zone, his vision and patience to hold onto the puck and let the play develop gives you glimpses of the vision. |

Hayes is playing. I'm guessing Mueller is the scratch?
edit: Nvm it's Malone. |

I'd rather Malone play for a better size matchup. The Jets have some big boys. |

Yea. The way I see it though is Hayes is subbing in for Malone. Hayes is pretty big so it's not that much of a downgrade in size.
Mueller is an ace on faceoffs too. |

I feel like someone always goes offsides when Duclair gets the puck in transition and has time and space to make a play lol |
