This is the first and only game this year where thw refs really cost us a win.
- SuperSchennBros

I hate blaming the refs, but I was actually pissed off by many of the calls. Like Giroux's holding the stick? Schenn's hook? I don't even think VDV's penalty was that bad either.. wasn't a slew foot.

Just want to say that I'm not a fan of the signing at all, even if it's a 2-way contract at league minimum. I'd rather have Manning/Lauridsen/Alt (when healthy) in the lineup.
- jmatchett383

One of them may be in the lineup still until one of the injured players come back.

But I think the Lauridsen ship has sailed.

I thought all 3 of those calls were bad calls.
- MJL

It was funny because the announcers and therian were trying not to be homers but almost couldn't contain themselves.

And the fact that Bill actually mentioned the calls in his write up. Normally they go w/o saying but to actually read it, it brings to light how borderline and/or awful the calls were

I would wait till everyone is healthy and then see what you have...competition is a good thing. On the flip, when everyone is healthy and you can make a deal, then so be it. But, Hexy is showing a lot more patience then Homer. FINALLY!!! This is something that Flyer fans are not used to, to some degree. Yes, it's win now but lets allow the "kids" some time to develop.

I would imagine that CC's deal is a two-way but nonetheless, the Flyers will have to put him on IR within a month, so it's a wash with his salary.

I try not to bring up the officiating but DARN, it was almost like they needed Tampa to win the game last night. Fishy calls!!!

- phi1671

We'll have to see, but I suspect it will be a one way deal below the threshold.

I probably would have leaned that way myself. But I'm really glad Hexy is staying the course with Ghost and Hagg.

I'm thinking maybe he wants Manning down in the minors as well to keep the Phantoms on the right track. Fostering a winning culture for his young players seems much more important to Hextall than it was to Homer. Personally I completely agree.

When a player plays a physical game, there is going to be some penalties involved. What has to be looked at with Rinaldo is what kind of penalties. He has kept his discipline this year. The call on the check on Boyle was horsecrap.
- MJL

Yes, that was a garbage call.

it is fitting that a Ghost will be in the rafters at the BB&T Center

Yes. Very spooky. If only there was a scared emoji.

Nah, Vandevelde's penalty was dumb. I look forward to him being out of the line up.

That's my issue. It just seems like an unnecessary signing. Why not grab both Manning and Lauridsen, send back Ghost, and take them as the #6/7 defenders until Coburn/AMac/Timonen (crossing my fingers) come back?

On a side note, while I'm not expecting it, I think it would be great if Timonen gets healthy and could come back around mid-late February to help for a potential playoff push. Would be nice to have a somewhat healthy Kimmo back for the playoffs. But, again, not expecting it.

VDV has to be more careful there, but Bishop played that up like he was shot with a sniper rifle.

I watched it a few times, and it didn't look like a slew foot to me. He hit Bishop's leg and then Bishop went down like he was shot... Bishop still had the puck and I kind of thought they got tangled but whatever.

Flyers don't want a young player up as a 7th defenseman. That's what makes it neccessary right now, and they're right.

The Lauridsen ship has sailed. They don't want another non mobile stay at home defender with a lack of puck skills in the lineup. Who really isn't that good defensively.

That's what I saw on the replay.. flailing arms from Bishop.. I would have been fine with a call of tripping and embellishment to even it up.

I just think he's useless in all areas of the game. When he set up Grossmann against Detroit and scored on Jonathon Quick, I thought we entered the Darkest Time line. He can't win a faceoff, his two way play at center is subpar. Laughton should have been to obvious choice to bring up.

Re Timonen, I think about that, but I really don't want to get my hopes up. He'd need to come back about Feb as you say because of getting in game shape. Having said that.. he's a warrior so you never know.

They like his size, skating and play on the wall, and his forecheck ability.

You've gotta avoid touching the goalie. Brayden Holby wasn't even touched by anyone when he fell down Wednesday night, that resulted in a Red Wings goal being waived off and I believe a penalty against. Nobody was anywhere near the Caps goaltender. Look it up on YouTube.

I think Rinaldo is our best player on the fourth line right now, maybe our best forchecker on the team.

Yeah. I would be suprised if laurdison is here much lnger. Got to remember if say one or two dmen come up next year they have Wilcox and possibly Vasilev that could come over from Russia. They are starting to build a solid system. And the Phatoms were terble for long it is nice to see them playing solid hockey in allentown. Sending Manning and Ghost back will just help in the development. Ghost got a taste and now knows the speed and can work on some things. If something were to happen and the Flyers are out of it at the TDL then i would assume Ghost will be ready to come up around that time if players are moved.

Right now probably, but when Lacavalier comes back, Bellemare will eventually go back to the 4th line. And then it's between Akeson and Vandevelde for the other 4th line spot, if they feel Vandevelde can play the Wing.
