Cappy needs to make changes to the lines. I see signs of a downward spiral. I would like to think the team has more character with the new players to let that happen.

It's hard to identify what the problem is. They only allowed 23 shots last night. Is it the goalies that are not making the saves when the players make mistakes? is the system? are the chances they do allow are total breakdowns which results is goals? or all of the above?

Tavares played a good game last night but, it appears his linemates are not able, to keep up. Why can't the coaches see this. These guys such as weight, Snow, Cappy, Cronin have been involved in hockey all their lives. You have to think they know something about what works& doesn't and make chances when necessary. PK sucks, PP sucks...I don't understand why adjustments are not made. I want Cappy to have success but, I strongly feel a change has to be made. Keep Cronin, get Weight out from behind the bench, bring in Marc Crawford or Jacque Lemaire and bring in a legendary d-man as the other assistant.

Cronin dictates the style of the PK. Probably still Cappy who decides which players.

I knew it would be a long night when the 4th line made their first appearance on the ice 1:40 into the game. Avs scored :40 seconds later. (Tavares line took :25 sec shift).

Tavares probably bites his tongue off every day with him as coach.

I think you're the only one having a hard time with that? It's not always about how many shots. That's an easy one dimensional barometer. Zone time, quality of the shots, etc... As for the second bold because they suck at their job.

Yep! It's the same as last year. The team is not giving up a lot of shots, it's the quality of the shots.

Did you hear it? The annual I thought we played a good game even though the final score was 5-0 quote from captain jack Same mistakes year after year regardless of what players are here. Don't worry Jack's got this
- Vukota

he also said something along the lines that Tavares rang one off the post and that could have turned things around...

you know you arent a good coach when essentially you say "he rang one off the post and we think that had that gone in all of our defensive issues would be fixed"

Let me tell you something when you give up 2 straights goals in a short period of time and you don't even call a timeout?? I don't understand that for the life of me. Most coaches will calm the team down and get back down to basics. JAck never coaches to me he just stand there with his arms crossed.

Also the fourth line needs to play maybe 7 minutes a night and that is it. Enough of seeing them out there already

Coaching the last thing needs to get fixed. Cappy in post game said I thought we played really well. Really 5-0?

Also I now have to question Dunham as a goalie coach. No matter how good goalie is as soon as he an islander is 3gaa and sub .900.

Last night was embarrassment. Let's see if snow is really serious of isles drop next 3 games. Lanche seemed the most win able of the 4.
Sj blew a lead last night and you know they going to be out for blood.

- Spartiarti

i hear ya but if anything this validates dunham.

dunham isnt there to be a teacher. halak and johnson didnt forget how to be goalies over the offseason. dunham is there to help and advise and motivate.

the goalies have the resume for everyone to know that they are better than this; its clearly the defense.

I'm gonna partially disagree with this one. It's certainly not a coaching strategy, but had Tavares potted that one (I think we were only down 1 or 2 at that point) a goal there changes the momentum of the game.

If he has that long you might be able to stick a fork in this season. I for one believe he has a much shorter leash. If we drop the next two hes gone imo.

agreed...i think he has the roadtrip...depending on how good/bad it goes, this may be it.

Im not one to wish losing on the team I root for but... It'll be the best thing that happened to this team since DP being bought out. This team will never reach its potential nor will its players as a whole or on individual basis with him as coach. We all knew this why not Snow? Thats the real question.

if it was actually going to happen I'd be rooting for us to completely tank this road trip and go 0-5. Sadly, I don't think it's going to happen.

one other note - lowest ice time among our defensemen last night? Dehaan. Seriously..how is strait playing more minutes?

How are clutterbuck and martin playing within a minute or two of strome and lee?

How is the fourth line on the ice at the same time as strait when mckinnon is on the ice? How do we not pull Johnson after that third goal at the very latest? How do we not mix the lines up to try and generate a spark? How do we not call a timeout after the third goal at the latest to try and settle the team down?

these are all in game coaching decisions that are not happening. He rolls his lines the way he wants without matching, without thought and it's killing us.

its the bigger picture that im worried about...had the islanders been down 5-0 and scored 6 goals in the last 6:20 of the game, it would have been a fabulous comeback and a movie would be made of it and WOW we are rolling.

but the defense still sucks!!! and the system isnt right.

there is some cliche about a pig with lipstick which i dont remember...but it applies here.

when your team gives up 3.6 goals a game, something is wrong...regardless of how many posts tavares hits

short term pain for long term gain??? like i said...sign me up. sooner rather than later.

every day that this guy isnt fired is just another day that this team wont reach their potential. every day he isnt fired is another day of bad coaching and digging the hole deeper for the next coach. get him out!!!

i want to seem maximum returns and i WONT with this coaching staff.

i will resume being an islanders fan a week from tuesday when the avs come to town; until then, lets go sharks/ducks/kings/coyotes

I understand the quality vs quantity shots. I believe the goalies have to take some responsibility has well. The Avs didn't not dominate in zone time in the isles zone. Although it did increase as the game went along. They capitalized on their chances and we didn't. We doubled them in scoring chances. The biggest issue for me is line chemistry and ice time. They need to decrease the 4th line ice time..they have nothing to offer than hitting.

What makes me shake my head as well is when people have been saying, “you’re overreacting, the team is 6-2 and we’re winning games, all is well” when these issues were brought up. Then we stink it up against the jets and the avs, two teams who had a combined 4 wins before we played them and they’re nowhere around to admit they were wrong.

There’s been a number of us who have seen major flaws that the Isles were overcoming due to their offense, and those flaws have been noticeable and there’s no sign they’re doing anything to correct them. Players who should be waived are playing significant minutes rather than risk disrupting any chemisty on the second and third lines – which are not playing the minutes they should be because the fourth line is rolled out after every goal for or against, every pk or pp, and at the start of every period. There’s no shortening the bench or line juggling when we need a goal, there’s no adjustments being made.

Major issues that will 100% sink us and nothing has been done to address them.

Some of you ripped me about 5 days ago. Where are you now? Am I still overreacting?

This! Too easy to call some Debbie Downers instead of seeing the real problems. Just like it was too easy to just blame the goalies last year.

Thats why this has the potential to have a multi layered negative effect. Keeping him on was a monumental ball drop by snow. Having bush league morons run the show will garner zero respect from anyone let alone people around the NHL. Including potential players whether it be resigning them or signing via free agency. Just another example of why I find the building excuse so maddening.

ive wanted jack fired for at least 2 years now and have said as much for the past 2 years (just not every day). having said that, the team can still win despite cappy. hes just a major issue.

i think prior comments were that this season will turn out like prior seasons.
