JT must have have mentioned 5 times in his post game presser they have to be better in their own end. Captain Jack was talking about how good varmalov was its almost like he is in denial when it comes to how bad they are in their own end
- Vukota

Two of their goals, when it was still close, we had at least 3 guys in our own crease. I'm sick of it.

Did you hear it? The annual I thought we played a good game even though the final score was 5-0 quote from captain jack Same mistakes year after year regardless of what players are here. Don't worry Jack's got this

Best part of the game was listening to Lorne Henning in the booth in the 3rd.
The stuff they were saying about Al Arbour and how the players respected & feared him kind of seemed like an omen. Imagine Brent or Daryl Sutter with this team in the next 2-3 years?

Couldn't they at least decide who is gonna cover Left, Right & Center?
Or maybe pile on each other till they cover the entire net opening?

That's exactly the kind of coach this team needs. Someone who will instill fear into them and demand the best out of each one and hold them accountable. Not this jerkoff with I thought we played good speeches after losing 5-0. That might fly during the first year of the rebuild not now my man

All I know is Halak and Johnson were good goalies elsewhere. Why have young goalies struggled on this team? I wonder what the pattern is?

Capuano;

"I thought we played pretty well"

Cant make this shat up. I never in my life thought id hear a coach say this after losing 5-0. Well after losing 6-0 to the devils and him saying it was a good defensive effort nothing should shock me at this point.

You'd be surprised how much better the goalie looks when the team clears the crease and the rebounds. I just wonder how long this is going to be allowed to go on this year. I'd hate to think we're going to have to wait two more years for the whole lot of them to be sh*tcanned.

I'm so over this coach. How on God's green earth Garth cannot see how bad Capuano manages games is beyond me. Enough with it. It's pathetic. You're canceling out every good move you made this off season by keeping this dumb kunt here. Sorry for the profanity but it's too the point I'm beginning to lose my shat.

Somebody asked me yesterday, "so, when do you think they should fire him?" I told him March 3, 2014.

Chad Johnson's stats with a team that plays a standard left wing lock:

2.10, .925

Chad Johnson's stats with a team that plays....well, whatever the f**k you might call this "system":

3.47, .870

Last March, playing a simple defensive system, they went 13-5, with the same goaltenders that two months prior couldn't win a game if their life depended on it, with minor league players in front of them.

Why do they not grasp this? It doesn't SEEM difficult for anyone with functioning brain cells.

The problem is that they don't have to be better in their own end- they have to completely change what it is they do defensively at both ends of the ice. If anyone would like to explain to me how that is going to happen while this dope is still standing behind the bench, given that he HAS had them play the trap and HAS won hockey games doing it, and yet still reverts back to whatever this is that they're trying to do, I'm willing to listen.....just so I can laugh at you when you're finished.

I'm guessing that's what he draws on the white board on those rare occasions when he actually calls a timeout- five X's on the same spot on the ice, right in front of the goalie. I think that's also the Islanders penalty killing scheme- each time the other team passes the puck to another one of their players, one of the Islanders takes one step back toward the goal, until their box is like four guys in a phone booth, right in front of the crease.

Coaching the last thing needs to get fixed. Cappy in post game said I thought we played really well. Really 5-0?

Also I now have to question Dunham as a goalie coach. No matter how good goalie is as soon as he an islander is 3gaa and sub .900.

Last night was embarrassment. Let's see if snow is really serious of isles drop next 3 games. Lanche seemed the most win able of the 4.
Sj blew a lead last night and you know they going to be out for blood.

The PLAYER STACK. a capuano Defensive masterpiece. I wonder how ever one feels when he makes them do it in practice. id they drop 4 games on the road. They should ask boychuk the resigning question they asked him again.

That's not because of Dunham. These guys have been goalies for a while and have played with successful teams. Believe me neither is going to take what Dunham tells them seriously. WTF has Dunham done to warrant respect from either of our goalies? I have no faith in Dunham who was a subpar goalie along with the rest of the subpar staff Snow has assembled(does Dunham have a New England accent?)don't get me wrong but the reason goalies GAA and sv% goes to shat is 1000% due to Capuano's "system" which I have a hard time calling it as such bcs it's not really a system at all. 5 players piling in front of their goaltender to prevent a goal is not a "system". That one goal Mckinnon got was embarrassing when he just backed up and shot it over the pile of bodies in the paint. What a facking joke

1) Wasn't all Strait's fault...while I think he shouldn't be playing..I think all 19 skaters that were dressed didn't show up tonight...
2) I'd put Grabovski and Kulemin together see if that works.
3) Conacher should be in the press box. Put Nelson on the first line..
4) Defense not physical enough except for Boychuk and Hamonic...
5) Fire Capuano and the other two clowns behind the bench...he's afraid to make changes...

If I was the coach I'd try these lines:

Nelson- JT- Okposo
Strome-Grabovsky-Kulemin
Lee- Neilsen-Clutterbuck (Bailey)
pick any three for the 4th line...

- kear20

To be fair, Conacher isn't the only issue on the 1st line. I might get blasted but Idc, sorry to say but KO is not an offensive threat every time he steps onto the ice. I think the top line needs to change the wingers bc they slow down JT. JT thinks the play ahead and needs quick reacting players to play with. I would like to see JT play with these 2 line combo's

Kumelin-JT-Strome

or

Grabo-JT-Lee

Brock Nelson and Frans Neilsen are to valuable at C's to turn 1 into a W. Both possible line combo's bring speed, defense & net presence w/playmaking ability. JT is the ultimate playmaker/sniper and needs to play w/other players who can open the ice up more. Conacher is just speed, KO is a wanna be PWF but doesn't stay in front of net, only hangs around the boards. Sorry guys but not a fan and don't know if I'll ever be? Even tho its still early and hope the chump starts to get on fire but I just don't like his overall game.....

Ur post about the coach is accurate but if & when Cappy gets canned, it will be either Weight or Cronin. Do u have faith in those 2 with them possibly keeping the same type of system? I'm just asking bc its hard to get an established coach in season and have that coach try to change/install his philosophy, if u get my point?

The Isles could have keep Poulin and Nilsson with this type of goaltending this year.
- ses111

You can't put this on goaltending... I had played goal for years. The way the Isles are playing defense is completely messing with their heads. As a goalie, you can't worry about the pass AND the shooter every time they enter your zone. That's why teams are scoring from bad angles because the goalie does not trust his defense and is trying to cheat to get the pass across crease.
Any goalie you put in net at this point with this defense structure WILL struggle.

I have zero faith in either of them. I said it and most others on here did as well that Snow keeping Capuano on was and had the potential to be a multi faceted fack up beyond words for the reason you mentioned. You had serious, legit, excellent NHL coaches available this offseason. I mentioned a few weeks ago when everyone was in la la land that hopefully Snow had a back up plan with a legit NHL coach waiting in the wings. It's doubtful but hopefully he does. We are starting to see exactly what some of us mentioned when we were 6-2. Christ, I said it after we beat the Rangers at the Garden and was called the usual "whiner" and how can I justify saying that when we just won etc... There were obvious defensive problems which has never changed in any way since he's been our coach. Same problems year after year with no adjustment. All of us wanted to believe the team would win in spite of him(myself included)but this is a pretty stupid notion. Eventually his mind boggingly stupid coaching decisions will catch up to a team.

You can't expect to win consistently in this league playing little to no defense. Capuano has been trying to do just that since he's been our coach yet he gets sent back out to do it again, again, and again. Making the same bone headed decisions again, again, and again. What's the definition of insanity again? This is not the players. Anyone who thinks this has to do with the players has their own head stuck so far up their own asses they may never see the light of day again. The talent is clearly there. Whatever "system" Capuano has(which I don't really believe there is one)the players aren't buying it. They never were and they never will. Tavares looks beat up. He's had it. You can clearly see it on his face during interviews. Can't blame the kid. Guy is competing with the 4th line for ice time, offensive draws. You don't think the kid is smart enough to know it's hurting his point totals and his career? Whether he looks dumb or not for doing so Snow needs to fix this problem asap or this negativity is going to have an enormous overall terrible effect on an already fragile team. Get this over with now and shat can the guy before this season is lost. Let a new coach start to re teach this team how to play hockey the way it should be.

Ok. So what's the over/ under in games lost as to when Freddy Flintstone gets canned? (Btw, every time we call him that, we insult Mr. Flintstone)
