No, 18 minutes a game for Brian Strait is the scariest number for MY Halloween.

I understand the quality vs quantity shots. I believe the goalies have to take some responsibility has well. The Avs didn't not dominate in zone time in the isles zone. Although it did increase as the game went along. They capitalized on their chances and we didn't. We doubled them in scoring chances. The biggest issue for me is line chemistry and ice time. They need to decrease the 4th line ice time..they have nothing to offer than hitting.

I agree hundred percent.... The execution of the system is off. It's poor decision making, discipline & mental attitude problem that needs to be addressed on the spot by the coaching staff.

The D-men don't know when to apply direct pressure or angled. They get to deep into the corners with direct pressure that, they're getting caught coming outside-in that's why they're crashing their own net. They need to contain the angle and cut off the passing lanes. Hickey and Leddy because of this size are the ones that do this the best..they use their intelligence and skill for their lack of size. They stay in between the puck and the net. Strait has neither skill or intelligence and has to go!!! He has no foot speed and plays outside-in and out of position all the time. But it's not just him. Many times the team-D Can't block shots, can't clear the crease, can't clear a rebound. Goals being scored are in tight or miss re-reads.

Both goalies have no excuses. Halak and Johnson should know post position by now. Most of those goals given up last few games have been just pitiful. They can't play that loose. Play the angles!!! Strong stance and tight up against the post!!! They're better then the last few games!!!

hence why keeping him was a huge misstep on Snow's part

There is clearly a lack of trust between Capuano and the new forwards as well as the kids. I find it hard to believe snow signed grabovski or kulemin to play bottom line minutes or that the fourth line would be playing as much or more than strome.

So if Capuano doesn’t trust them – despite the production they have brought to the table early, how in the world does this get corrected without a new coach?

This isn’t even looking at how poorly the team plays a defensive game.

- Isles_since_6

What I don't understand also is why does he "trust" players that continually let him down while others are clearly outperforming them? The guy is trying to lose his job. Like a complete concerted effort to get fired. One of us couldn't coach this bad if we tried. He's that bad.

"The penalty kill is now ranked 30th in the NHL. It did not look good last night, especially on Nathan MacKinnon’s goal in the second period. All four Islander penalty killers were down in the goal crease and MacKinnon has all the time in the world to control the puck and score."

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Especially the 2nd bold. That couldn't possibly be an integral part of the Islanders PK strategy could it? Yet it remains after how many years of futility? Like I said the same problems year after year... That goal was embarrassing for a couple of minutes but then it became funny. If anyone missed it I'd watch it again. It's hysterical.

I will say this I have to believe that a real bad road trip and Jack is def gone. They seem this year to be running like a NHL team and not a AHL team. They already made some changes to the lineup.

I know but the way things are going this year with new owners aboard, I just have this feeling. Of course the Isles will prove me wrong and win the rest of these games and Jack will get an extension

Problem is they cant let this go on if they lose 5 in a row or 6. This team was built to at least make the playoffs this year. They need to have a short leash with the coach to show they are not messing around and it will send a strong message to the players as well

problem is, no matter how badly coached this team is, i just don't see them going on the slide it would take for some kind of change to be made.

I have zero faith in any structure run by Wang to do the right thing.

I know but one can wish. I just don't understand it. I guess the only hope is the team rights the ship and they actually have a decent road trip

Having watched them play for 10 games now, I’m quite sure they can easily maintain a significant losing streak. I do not want to see that happen and see us miss the playoffs again, but I don’t see anything changing unless they immediately switch to a more defensively responsible system and stop handing players ice time when they don’t deserve it or bring anything to the table.

Sadly I agree. It's not impossible for this team to go on a long losing streak. I just do not understand Cappy saw when the forwards and D had the proper spacing and played a smart system, the team made the playoffs and the team looking much better last year after the Amac trade and they played a better system. Was Cappy asleep when these things happened?

It's that time of year again... Be the best thing that's happened to this team in a long time. They go 500 and this clown stays on and prolongs his tenure which in turn is more detrimental to the success of this team now and for the future. Lets end this asap. Wonder if the players are on board with this?

Capuano is so out to lunch he made those adjustments due to him losing what he thought was a first pairing defenseman in AMAC. The guy was giving him 26 minutes a night and probably felt he was defensively short handed after the trade. He still somehow has failed to see the connection?

These are the reasons Charles and Garth get hammered. They let this go on. It was never about not having a huge payroll. It was about not even having the right coach in place who plays the right players and system.

IPB. Just the amount of games played are wrong unless I'm missing something else? They've had 36 GA in ten games. They've had 35 GF btw.

Probably. Wouldn't you if you were him? "Johnny if the puck comes into the slot on the PK I'd like you to jump on each others backs and build a human wall in the crease. OK?"

@Cptmjl Absolutely, with that in mind Coaching hurts us off the ice in reference to signing player etc. as much as on.

Just get an NHL experienced coach already !
