20-25g I think he has, which will depend on record of course. But if this team is .500 He'll get more games probably
- Ur Not Me

If he has that long you might be able to stick a fork in this season. I for one believe he has a much shorter leash. If we drop the next two hes gone imo.

Sorry for my usual long winded rant this morning everyone. I think it's more therapeutic for me than anything else.

They've played 10g already, another 10 is almost 1/4 of the season. U think its shorter? I give the 20th game as his bench mark

If we drop the next two games id say there's a chance hes gone. I doubt very much even snow gives him mich more time.

You can't put this on goaltending... I had played goal for years. The way the Isles are playing defense is completely messing with their heads. As a goalie, you can't worry about the pass AND the shooter every time they enter your zone. That's why teams are scoring from bad angles because the goalie does not trust his defense and is trying to cheat to get the pass across crease.
Any goalie you put in net at this point with this defense structure WILL struggle.

I agree. Even Poulin had promise. Just ask Patrick Roy, but any goalie is toast under the current regime.

I agree not with Brooklyn next year and the Sabres owning the pick and the new owners. Garth will have no answers for keeping Cappy.

What I find puzzling is why does he have to look for answers/reasons to fire him? There are so many right in front of his face and there have been since his first day behind the bench. This is supposed to be a professional sports franchise. If someone doesnt do the job well you fire them and hire someone that does. You dont find reasons to keep people you find reasons to fire them. Its obvious the New England fraternity thing we kid about is not a joke in any way whatsoever.

I agree Cpt, but Wang and his flunkies put more importance on their clique than winning games. They do not want a successful outside coach coming in and taking over and breaking up their boy's club.

I am not going to say what everyone else has said already but Jacks time is up. this team I believe is a real good team but they are coached real badly. Penalty killing is horrendous and Jack runs that. The team has fire in them for like two minutes and then disappear that is on Jack. We can not go through a whole season like this.

Problem is they get rid of JAck they will probably let Weight coach for the rest of the year or Cronin and wait till next year to get a real coach.

Time for Dunham to leave as goalie coach as well as our goalies have been atrocious for years. It seems these goalies get here and they forget how to play net. To many softies are being allowed in. I hate to say this but they way they played last night this could be a really bad road trip that buries the Islanders once again. They are starting to look like the same team again making the same mistakes.

So time for a new coach and a new system as this system from day one has never worked

Cronin runs the penalty kill. Weight PP. Capuano head coach. The reason why goalies suck when they come here is bcs of our defense. When the problem is always everyone else(goalies)the problem usually is you(capuano/defense).

Some of us tried to say it was not all on Poulin and the other goalies. You cannot keep giving up 2-1's and breakaways and play overall lousy D and pin it on the goalies. It's no accident goalies have not done well on this team.

The question is why? The goalies keep changing and the coach remains the same.

I agree. They are but a lot of those weak goals don't even reach the net with an even decent defensive structure. Goalies don't come here and just stop playing well. There's more to it than that. These guys both played on teams with good defense and good coaches and both played well. They have neither right now. How does a player sit there unchecked five feet from the net, side of the net, in front, or in the paint? When it's a weak shot from there we blame the goaltending when that very shot should have never happened to begin with?

They're not used to being the only line of defense on the team. I think it's far too easy and way off base to blame goaltending(not saying you are but after reading lighthousehockey today that seems to be the theme) when players can skate through the neutral zone and over our blue line at will and freely.

He's the end all be all on the bench(it literally made me sick typing that)but Cronin is the "defensive" assistant like Thompson was and Weight is in control of the PP last I checked.

It has to be a shock to the system for goalies to come here and play under this dopey system and coaches. Halak and Johnson did not get old overnight and forget to play.

Exactly. There is one common theme here. The same problem exists with a different cast of characters. That same problem has existed since day one with Capuano. Anyone who thinks this is coincidence, bad luck, or injuries or anything else for that matter is fooling themselves.

Cronin dictates the style of the PK. Probably still Cappy who decides which players.

I knew it would be a long night when the 4th line made their first appearance on the ice 1:40 into the game. Avs scored :40 seconds later. (Tavares line took :25 sec shift).

My thing is we have the defense that can be really good. WE just need an overhaul of coaches we needed that for years. There is no more excuses with this team

Lose a few games, Cappy gets fired, REAL coach hired, Isles make playoffs vs.
Win a few games but miss playoffs

Hmmmmm....which do I choose????

- jmo16

i agree...if they go 0 for the trip and it guarantess cappy being fired, then count me in for that. the guy needs to go. hes clueless.

the avalanche arent even playing all that well but look what happens when you dont play defense against the bigger-badder west, YOU LOSE!!! it wasnt even close!!

wheres the defense?? wheres the coaching? wheres the accountability?
