just draft and develop
until the team is a contender
this has to happen for years and years before it makes any sense to trade for old players again - senstroll
I agree there. That's the only way to win. but it would be nice to offload some of the poop core that's keeping them semi-competitive so they can draft a true difference maker |

RoR would be a really good choice. - The Law
That's what I was thinking? ROR & a 1st for Kessel and Gardiner? Something along those lines? |

I'm not Kessel's #1 fan but he's too dynamic for them to move him.
I think you'd be looking at the standard Kadri or Gardiner or both. |

If you want something of significance you've gotta give something up. Kessel has been there going on six years now with little team success, time to make some bold moves. Nonis would never do it because he's absolutely terrible at his job, his claim to fame is trading for Lu and he's still resting on those laurels all these years later.
His bad contracts in TO are starting to scratch the surface of Sather in New York. |

If they move Kessel they are a lottery team no doubt, I love Phil. But may be the right move. According to some statisticians too the Leafs would've lost every game so far this year if Kessel wasn't around. You know, because if Kessel scores that's the only way the Leafs win. |

Yeah drafting Schneider means nothing.
Just think, if Nonis didnt draft Schneider, you'd prob still have Gillis as your GM.
Just think.

Ya but Kessel has a lot more value then RoR does right now. Maybe in a few years RoR will take that next step but right now he isn't even the best player on his team. He's not in that class yet. JvR might be a better comparison to RoR.
And trust me ..I'm a big fan of guys like RoR. |

here's the difference, Mr. Eye.
Top teams core is made up of guys they drafted and developed.
Leafs core is made up of pieces that other teams were willing to part with
It's not rocket science |

Actually - when Burkes contract wasn't renewed just before the 2004 draft, and Nonis took over, Nonis has publicly stated that they kept with the list that the scouting staff and BB put together…your move. |

My oldest wanted monster high.
We usually have really intricate patterns, but just really busy this year, tried to do a bit easier ones this year. Still turned out good I think. - burn
Us too. Last year we did Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry. This year my girl wanted 3 Minions on one pumpkin and Jake and Finn from Adventure Time on the other. The Minions turned out great...the other pumpkin gets carved tonight. She's an excellent artist, so she draws the images and I carve away. But she keeps upping the detail. Getting this carving set for next year to try to make it easier. I have a dremel now that helps tons.

Fair enough - Kessel IS one of the best scoring wingers in the league so I understand he holds a lot of value. |
