I could relate to that, but allot of the time, we just don't make great selections, while drafting. Biggs is a bust, but Percy is so far OK. Kadri is right around where he should be, for a 7th overall. We aren't sure about Nylander yet, because he hasn't had a chance to play at his highest level. He's a decent pick, for where we drafted him, 8th overall. I would have preferred Nick Ritchie, but it's roulette, when you get to that stage of the draft. I would like to get a shot at Dylan Strome this year, if things go badly, but the Leafs hierarchy will have to decide the direction that this team should be pursuing, after Christmas. All I know, is that we have no decent centre prospects, in the whole system, and we are lacking leadership overall. Maybe a trade of the proportions of a Kadri and Gardiner is in order.
- PrinceLH

Nylander is a decent prospect no?

I'm all for going after the next Sundin, but don't trade homegrown talent to get him. Dion, franny, Kessel, Lupul sure, see ya!

Maybe you change the deal slightly. Take out Kadri and offer Bozak. You would have to add something to that deal to make it work. Lupul might be someone that could be dangled, as long as another asset comes back the other way.....say a second rounder.
- PrinceLH

Bozak is homegrown, but I think it would be acceptable to trade him. I'm sure he would like to play in Colorado.

Yeah, Arizona will likely only want offensive forwards

I don't think that the Leafs do anything, until American Thanksgiving. They'll see where they are, in the standings and plan accordingly. I figure that they're going to be hanging around .500 for the whole year. The worst spot that they can possibly be in. Either make the playoffs, or drop into the top 6 of the draft. I think dropping into the top 6 in the draft is their best opportunity for actually moving forward. Enough of spinning their wheels, just outside of the playoffs.

I believe so. Gardiner's 5 million cap hit is swapped with Yandle's 5 million. Then Arizona may need to retain 500,000 of Vermettes contract. He's a UFA next year so I don't think that's too much of a probelm

Nylander is just that, a decent prospect. He hasn't matured as a man, as of yet. He has high skill, but unless he can translate that into the NHL game, then the jury is out. I've seen too many players with high skill levels, in junior, hit the NHL and never make it long term. Outside of his high skill level, he doesn't have a large physical attribute and his checking skills, currently, leave allot to be desired.

I say just play hard, coach well (get a new one), draft well, and try to build a good management team.

But never tank. It is a huge killer of confidence for the young guys. Do you think Kadri and Rielly like walking around Toronto people yelling "YOU (frank)ING SUCK!!!"??

No it doesn't help.

I see he still has Holland, and Brodeur as backup, so a different deal involving Reimer+ for Thornton...

Agreed. There also isn't a sellers market right now. Fire sales don't happen until the deadline and that's the only way you get us to tank so its not happening.

It's been an open wound, since Sundin left. This team has been just outside of the playoffs, save for the strike year. There are some significant holes that have not been addressed since Sundin left. I blame Sundin for not helping his team get ahead, by waving his no trade clause. He had the right to do that, but he screwed over the team and the fanbase, by not doing the right thing. Sometimes, you just have to read the writing on the wall. Sundin didn't and it cost this team 5 years in the wilderness, with hardly any young players in the system and draft picks. For all of the great years Sundin provided for the Leafs faithful, he left a taint on his legacy, pulling the Muskoka Five sh!t and gutting this team.

nobody should pretend to know what any player wants

maybe he'd like to play a lil closer to home

also.. cali isnt all its cracked up to be.. i remember my cousin and Andy both telling me on separate occasions that when they played in anaheim they hated living there.. too tight.. way too many people, expensive as hell.

That's with Marc Staal getting a $6 million cap hit, Leaving the Canes with close to $6 million in cap space.

That is also assuming Sekera, Tlusty, and McLement all walk as UFAs and we get nothing for them. Which won't happen either.

The last 7 years including this year Vermette has been pretty healthy. As for Lupul...Hey he has made it 9 games so far.

Yes I just noticed he's been pretty steady. I must be thinking of a different player who played for the Sens before?
