Habs also have troubles attracting UFA's, even if has gotten a little better lately.... we somehow managed to attract Sekac... something that would have been impossible in the very close past.

all canadian teams have had a hard time attracting ufa's. When was the last time a team from here signed a major ufa?

I can't think of any either other than the leafs getting belfour in 02 and by that time he already lost his starting job. Worked out well for us though.

I have no idea how taxes work for people making that much money in canada or the us but a good accountant could make up for most of the difference. Teams like the Rangers have no trouble attracting players. I highly doubt living there is cheaper than any canadian hockey city. Plus, the weather isn't that much better if any.
