i don't care what we call them, but wow, totally agreed garner.

that line has been a revelation. our most consistent since day 1. joensuu and Hendricks banging bodies and putting physical pressure on the opposing defence cant be quantified in a stat, but its so huge for us right now. something we haven't had in any real sustained manner in forver.

hall is obviously the superstar and the cornerstone, but someone mentioning that Gordon should get some votes for our mvp, is far from ludicrous. he's all world for us

MacT's best/most underrated UFA signing?

I remember Coyote fans bashing Gordon when he was signed. He wasn't signed for offensive production. He was signed to be a tough, defensive focused player that can win us faceoffs, and he is doing just that and it is paying off excellently.

It's bordering on Alex_Oil and Time2Produce levels and their rants about Eakins...

I have no problem with someone posting an opinion. But this guy seems so arrogant about it cause apparently he knows how the lines should be and then keeps posting it in every blog for the past week.

Agreed, everyone has an opinion. Unfortunately, some people don't realize when their opinion is wrong or when they should stop.

MacT has made some great moves, Gordon was near the top behind the Perron trade IMO. Hendricks for Dubie was epic.

Perron trade is his coup-de-grais so far. I was excited to get Hendricks for poopnyk. But for UFA signings, as good as Fayne/Nikitin/Pouliot may turn out, Gordon is having the best impact

I'm surprised he isn't getting more loved. Gordon is doing the blue-collar hard work that Edmonton fans love.

Im one of those guys that thinks if it's not broke don't fix it. Don't (frank) with the lines. And yes I know we rush players, but IMO I don't think it has hampered anyone on this roster. Eberle was not rushed and he's the one that looks a little out of place. Drai has a great chance to learn from this roster because there is alot of experience and the young guys can relate to the situation and help with the growing pains.

As of right now I think the only signing that might backfire is Nikitin. And even so its better than Fraser

I think the more Eakins plays Fayne and the less we see of Schultz, I think we will be talking about Fayne as one of our better UFA signings. I agree though, Gordon has been a great signing. Fayne does all the little things right in the d zone and he is a heavier body for the bigger western conference forwards.

I don't want to give full credit to Fayne. I was excited that we signed him, but I'm pissed at how little TOI he was receiving in favour of Jultz. But I can see Fayne/Gordon having a great matchup as best UFA signing.

I'm 50/50 on Nikitin. He has a shot to really be a good player.

Eberle is like Hemsky. He is a great support player, but expecting him to be more than what he is isn't fair. And Eberle is my favorite player. Just have to understand players roles and abilities.

But, yes, we are winning and things are clicking and rolling. Let's keep it that way and get the most out of the run. Worry about line changes if things start to get off balanced after a while.

yeah, alot of grief when people saw we paid him 3 mil.
aside from the fact that a mil overpay is pretty much what it takes to get guys to sign here (at the time), at present he's worth every penny of that contract.

Expressing an opinion or viewpoint that is different than others, with conviction, is not arrogant. It's a debate. LD is the best we have for that last spot, I agree with you. Lander is the second best we have for that spot, fact. Lander is not good, agree with you. Just because LD is better doesn't mean he should be here though if it is a detriment to his future development, which I believe it is. It was a sure thing to bring in a 3rd line center for that role, it was risky to hope that LD grows into it this year. And in my opinion, there was no need to take that risk this year.

My argument is that the detriment to the team this year of playing Lander over LD is outweighed by the benefit going forward of letting LD mature properly. Additionally, I would much prefer another center be brought in which would mean we would not be impacted this year at all, but that has not happened.

And here is the paragraph structure you require.

And IMO keeping LD up will not be a detriment to his development. There is no study or proof to say that it is better for a player to be in junior and dominate or be in the nhl and learn the nhl game.

when are you trading RNH for Yandle? Bc thats the only kind of player that Tanner wants him to be shipped out for

Fact. A person grows and matures in the face of competition that is above them, not so much below them. Overcoming adversity is a driving force behind ones personal growth. If one is placed in an environment where they dominate, there is no stimulus to improve, but simply to plateau. That coupled with the fact he is the best option the Oilers have right now to play said position. In a perfect world they would have a suitable replacement for him. As they don't, sending him to junior hurts the club right now, and hinders his stimuli to improve.
