No. Lander is going to replace LD. Don't you remember?
- ChetManly
He should be here instead of LD based on the players that Mac T currently has on our roster. Who should really be here though over lander is brodziak or a player of that type. But in the absence of that move, unfortunately its lander. LD needs to go back to junior. The oilers made a mistake, again. The fact that he made the team simply because Mac T couldn't populate his roster with 4 NHL centers is an embarrassment. He may get points, but will be a boat anchor to the oilers in ever other facet of the game. Having him here doesn't make them a better team and doesn't help them make the playoffs. Trading a 2nd round pick for a real center helps them make the playoffs, makes them better in the future by developing Leon properly, and ups landers value for a trade next year, it a win win win. Id rather have 15 year of a better properly developed LD and put up with lander, than screw up his development this year by bring him in too early. The only reason he is here is because everyone else sucks, including lander. He is not an NHL center and neither is lander. Therefore id rather put lander in a position to fail than LD, who is much more important to the oilers. Wait until he is ready.

LD is staying. He has moved in with Nuge. Or Hoppers or whatever the (frank) his nickname is.

Also Yak doesn't really need to be sheltered anymore.

- Oilers4Life14

You should of bolded the end of that sentence to where he says we need to put yaks and LD on the same line to "minimize damage."

First off that is stupid to put all your defensively challenged players on one line. That kid takes O zone starts and D zone starts way to seriously btw, the puck isnt going to stay in the zone the whole time anyways.

Second, yaks has been playing great in both ends of the ice, he just needs to be given more ice time.

I know, but its still so wrong. He will do fine this year, but only because we have to shelter him. Any 4th line NHL player sheltered like he will be will produce points. If we gave him another year of development and some time in the AHL, we could deploy him like a normal player.

its smart because perron - arco - purcell is a great line, they shouldn't have to be broken up just to babysit less competent players.

Im fine with leaving the lines as they are and rolling with the chemistry we have going. Not blowing it up because you think Lander is a better choice then LD.

Have those guys even played together for any type of long period yet anyways?

They were our best line early. They also are on paper our best offensive players (edit: best after the top line obviously). Its a shame not to give them a legitimate long term shot, in my opinion.

Just split up your paragraghs and I'll read and most likely respond in kind to your post. But your whole "LD needs to be sent down Ozone Dzone starts Lander blah blah" poop is really old. Get over it, the team made the decision.

We didn't win a game with that line together. We are winning with the line combos we have now. Don't change poop.

JB is kinda like the little brother that you pick on cause it's fun, so its not too bad to have him around most times unless he's cranky.

why break up the only like that is working? The middle two lines are having trouble finding themselves, and the gordon line is saving their bacon right now. The middle two lines are having difficulties because each has a player that needs to be sheltered to stop hurting the team. If the oilers are going to make a mistake and keep LD and not resolve themselves to bring in another center, then yak and LD need to be put on the same line to minimize the damage. At least that way there is only one line to protect and use sparingly. Perron - Arco - Purcell should be our second line all season long without a doubt. Perron potted 28 and purcell has 60 point seasons in the past. Arco can hold is own. Pouliot - Draisaitl - Yakapov is a devensive liability, so if we have to deal with them, at least put them on the same line and give them all the 0-zone starts to minimize the damage, or play them <10min a night if the game warrants.

Have you watched a game this season or do you just listen to the talking heads in Toronto and form an opinion?

i don't care what we call them, but wow, totally agreed garner.

that line has been a revelation. our most consistent since day 1. joensuu and Hendricks banging bodies and putting physical pressure on the opposing defence cant be quantified in a stat, but its so huge for us right now. something we haven't had in any real sustained manner in forver.

hall is obviously the superstar and the cornerstone, but someone mentioning that Gordon should get some votes for our mvp, is far from ludicrous. he's all world for us
