Awaiting word that NYR John Moore's hearing may not be via phone, after all. Possible it could be in person. Stay tuned.

- jimbro83

TSN Headline:
New York Rangers defenceman John Moore has been offered an in-person hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety after his head shot on Minnesota's Erik Haula during Monday's game against the Wild. By offering the in-person hearing, the NHL's Department of Player Safety has the option of issuing a suspension of six or more games.

So if he declines the in-person offer can he just take the 5 games and under over the phone?

The blurb you just quoted clearly states the offer as the criteria needed to suspend for 6+ games.

Elbow to the head? Previous suspension before Stepan hit.

I think you have to be suspended within the past 12 months to be considered a repeat offender by the rules. Not 100% sure though. So basically if Moore gets suspended for his hit yesterday and then throws his next headshot 2 years from now, he won't be considered a repeat offender.

Technically, however, Cooke isn’t a “repeat offender” under the current CBA because he hasn’t been suspended within the past 18 months

So it's 18 months.

haha I love Kreider's comment on whether he should get further discipline

"it happened in the first so I am basically missing the whole game. That was discipline enough.”

Well technically he is correct if they were going to give him 1 game suspension.

I would love to see an IQ test on Kreider. I wonder if he is more Rain Man or Lennie

I don't see what Moore did wrong. Not so sure the contact was directly to the head. Didnt look like an elbow. Thought it was a hard hit. But what do i know.

“That’s the way we should play here at home: Don’t be afraid, and balls out. Sorry for the language,” Zuccarello said. “But I mean that’s when we’re one of the best teams in the league, when we play like that.”

Zuuuuuccccccc!!! This guy is awesome
