I drafted him at the beginning of the year in my keeper league. I went with a total youth movement. I drafted nothing but players who were first or 2nd round picks in the last few drafts, or players I thought were on the cusp.

Carter is the better defensive player. He also hasn't had the luxury of playing with Krejci for most of his career. He's normally the best player on his line.

People just want Lucic because he embodies how they want their team to win. They want to beat the other team and beat up the other team.

When looking at them both as hockey players, it's hard to argue that Lucic is a better.

I agree, but I think there's a certain mystique about Lucic. He is able to power his way around the ice like a bull, and can get the other team on their heels a little bit. Basically, it's like wanting Eric Lindros or Mario Lemeiux, assuming both healthy and in their primes. Lemieux was a better player, but Lindros offered a dynamic that Lemieux couldn't.

Carter is one of the most underrated pure goal scorers in the NHL. As you said, .4 goals per game which equals at least 33 goals every 82 game season in his NHL career which is 9 or 10 seasons now? Take away his rookie and sophomore year and that average jumps up likely to 40 goals a year every year.

He's a good player. I never understood why people disliked him so much in Philly. He had his flaws and there were times where he could have been more assertive, but overall he was very good.

I must say he's a different player with the Kings though. He looks so much more comfortable than he did with the Flyers. When the Flyers tried him on the wing, he was lost. Now, he is capable of playing any forward position and excelling.

I drafted him with my last pick. He was inactive at the time and had been sent down so no one paid any attention. I decided to just take a chance and stash him away. Because its a keeper league I will now have him forever. I did the same thing with Giroux in his rookie year.

He's a good player. I never understood why people disliked him so much in Philly. He had his flaws and there were times where he could have been more assertive, but overall he was very good.

I must say he's a different player with the Kings though. He looks so much more comfortable than he did with the Flyers. When the Flyers tried him on the wing, he was lost. Now, he is capable of playing any forward position and excelling.

i think it was his skating. He had an odd skating posture that made it look like he wasn't trying. Also, he's more remembered for some of his flaws (race down wing, fire rocket 5 feet wide, odd-man rush the other way) and his shot into Niemi's chest late in Game 6. He was never "tough enough" and "lazy" in many fans' eyes.

I had also drafted Sam Bennett. But I had to drop him. He just had shoulder surgery and is out for months, but Yahoo refuses to put him on IR.

Much better now than when he was in Philly. I always remember a Carter that was not physical enough, floated down the wing, missed open nets. Sure he had his fair share of goals but he shot the puck quite a bit. I sure hope you get something for that.

I think it was his personality too. Very low key. When I worked at a restaurant in Old City, he'd come in quite a bit. He was always very nice and pleasant. He was quiet though.

Do you think that Brayden Schenn still has another level he can reach? I'm sure his points totals will increase but will they increase enough consistently to be 60+ points a year? What about Coots?

Coots is also developing an edge to his game as well. That is something I would like to see him continue to develop. He seems to have a nasty edge that he calls on sporadically. I would like to see that nasty more often. I know its there.

The one thing about Schenn that gives me pause is that he isn't great at any one thing. He isn't big enough to be a true power forward, not fast enough to be a speedster, doesn't shoot well enough to be a sniper, doesn't play defense well enough to be a shutdown guy and so forth.....

But he does all of those things well enough to have above average potential. I'm just not sure what kind of player he is supposed to be.
