Like Boston not letting Steve Heinze have #57. Just silly.

Original Six = Humorless.

Good thing there are expansion-era teams that don't give a (frank):

I loved that he finally got to wear it. That's a classic jersey (if it weren't the Sabres).

EDIT - and Rob DiMaio should have been wearing #5 his entire career.

I never knew that. Thanks!

Now I covered my "really interesting trivia that I'll probably never use" requirement for the day

I agree! That would have been pretty funny actually.

I kind of understand AK-47 though. The league would frown upon anything that seemingly promotes violence.

They didn't want numbers that high, if I recall. Crazy.

Those guys write for a very broad audience and write for a specific reading comprehension level.

If you're expecting whiz bang analysis from a beat writer, you're barking up the wrong tree.

That's the nice thing about blogs; they allow you to pick and choose how you want to consume sports if you've gone beyond the level provided through your daily newspaper.

I don't think anyone that goes there is looking for in depth hockey analysis, but the analysis provided isn't just simplified for casual fans, it is flat out wrong sometimes. The logic presented is flawed sometimes as well. Reporting the facts is fine, but creating narratives around them based on flawed thinking is another. That's the issue I have with them. They're feeding the masses with misinformation.

Just googled it. According to wikipedia, it was because they didn't want something that seemed like a blatant product placement.

Probably just Hunts fans up there in Boston

Andrei Kirilenko wore # 47 in the NBA. But then again, it's a league full of thugs.

Well, it is a league full of thugs. That's not racist, it's a broad generalization backed up by solid fact.

Why don't we deserve Simmonds? Because a London fan threw a banana at him?

Ummm... Not really.

How long will that POS Moore's suspension be?

Is Kreider the biggest punk in the NHL? Questions to be pondered.
