No offense but none of those players are guaranteed to be stars, they're just prospects.. So yes, take all the 1st's you can during a rebuild. It worked out nicely with the Isles, found some diamonds in the rough (Nelson, de Haan).

Definitely. Myers>Nichuskin.

I think Sabres should throw something else into the trade while getting someone else back in return also. Like throw Ruhwedel in and a 2nd or 3rd in this years draft for Nichuskin and one of the many top end defense prospects that Dallas has. With the exception of Oleksiak, Nemeth or Honka as they would take more to get. Dallas have a shockingly huge amount of top end prospect talent back there. Ruhwedel and Myers are both ready now unlike the Dallas prospects.

myers is coburn 2.0, put him with a pronger or timonen and he will be awesome. without he is a bit above average

There's no way Dallas gives up Nichushkin for Myers. Maybe a deal like Myers for Oleksiak, Ritchie and Sceviour OR a draft pick. Nichushkin is a rare talent. Big, strong, great hands and vision. It would hurt Dallas more to lose him than the benefit of getting Myers. Myers is a gamble due to his recent production and playing on a terrible team. It's way too hard to judge whether or not he has high end skill or if he is Luke Schenn. Not a gamble I would be willing to take.
