Because it was just very childish is all. Again, not saying you can't have fun on here or be sarcastic or make fun of players, it was just very 12-year-old AOL Instant Messenger grade or, worse, TSN comment grade.

I don't fully disagree, but I think they should at least wait and see how surgery/recovery go before making a major move on defense. God forbid he's out for the season and they move a guy, then you're a bit screwed.
- jmatchett383

The way I see it, Harrington, Dumolin, and Pouliot are all about equally unproven. Pouliot more so than the other two, but the premise of the idea doesn't really change. losing one of those three doesn't screw over our depth at the position. Despres and Bortuzzo have more experience than those guys, but I still don't think they're particularly untouchable, especially Despres. The guy who does become untouchable is Martin. Can't replace a tried and true commodity with a question mark when you're in short supply of experienced and trust worthy performers, especially when playoffs roll around.

Right, but the premise of "Let's see if Dumolin can handle top-4 minutes," is a dangerous one. Let's say he CAN'T handle those minutes, you trade away Despres, and you lose Maata...then you're basically playing your #8 defenseman and losing your #3.

I agree. I wouldn't be looking to shop Despres around on the chance that Maatta can't come back. That being said, if a really good deal comes around involving Despres, I wouldn't discount it solely on the basis that Maatta is out of the picture for now/a while.

My comment was largely directed at the big three D prospects. If Rutherford is shopping them around, he should continue to do so business as usual.

Injuries happen. It's not like he chose to get injured. Hockey is a physical sport after all. And Bennet WILL be great offensively. Who else in our system is close to him minus kap? He has more offensive talent in his toe then anyone else in our system.

Maatta has known about this for how long? The guy is 20 but has the maturity level of a seasoned vet. It is impossible not to like this kid. Wishing him the best and a speedy recovery.

Edit*Just saw he will still play this week? Crazy. CEC better be going nuts.

Hopefully it will. Most likely it will be like the playoffs last season. We have the weakest crowd ever. Watching the games was almost painful how quite it was

It will be intersting to see if Bortuzzo, Despres or  Scuderi gets bumped to to top 4 duty.

They should put Harrington into top 4 duty. Might as well let him cut his teeth with the big club if he is expected to be a top 4 guy in the coming years, especially during a meaningless part of the season.
