True but the Habs are 7 and 1 ....who doesn't look good right now? Pretty small sample size and I'm pretty sure they won't finish 70-10-2 , so why don't we wait until the All-Star break to declare Emelin a true top pair D-Man. Habs fans were on here in the spring bashing the guy, so let's see if he maintains this performance through some rough patches .

Sure no problemo. I guess my point is you don't necessarely have to be an offensive dman to be a top pairing dman. Vlassic, Hamuis, Seabrook, Bouwmeester... the list of very good dmen with limited offensive skills is long.

Hi Ek!

This Montreal Edmonton deal is a myth. Emelin? No thanks.

- ghostofRC

They are all myths. I bet there will be no trade of significance that EK breaks this year. Sure, he will follow them but unless Pfffilly does something, I love that "ramdomly generated ex-Pfffilly guy", gotta love em, love his effort, love the guy, good guy..... sorry, that's another Ek story.... sure he will follow them but there is no appetite for a trade in the NHL at the moment.... and I do not see this changing soon. Agreed 100%. Big difference between a number 1 D-Man and a legit top pairing guy.see Jonas Brodin, Roman Josi, Jay Bouwmeester, etc

I don't see the habs looking at Eberle. He would cost way too much. Perhaps they make a low ball offer for Yakupov and have him join his old Sarnia line mate and possibly jump start his lackluster nhl career.

You mean the lacklustre career that's similar to galchenyuks?

Yak - 119 games, 58 points
Galchenyuk - 121 games, 65 points

Galchenyuk plays on a better team in the weaker conference

Also yakupov has improved his two way game drastically so there's thAt as well.

Edit: galchenyuks TOI: 16:22

Yakupovs: 13:05

If you've watched yak play, he's deserved more too. Lots of articles on it.

I guess the question is why Yak's time has been reduced from 14 minutes to 13 minutes (while Gally's time has been increased from 14 to 16).
Why does Yak play on the 3rd line?
I mean, if thet Habs are a so much better team, and Gally play on the 2nd line, and Yak plays 3rd line on a weaker team..... doesn't that tell you something?

2nd and 3rd lines in Edmonton are pretty much the same thing, the team is designed to have 3 scoring lines and 1 shut down line. So it's more like Line 1, Line 2a and Line 2b

That's doesn't explain why his play time have decreased. If the coach was happy with his play and progression, he would give him more time, like MT does with Gally in Mtl, don't you think?
