Emelin is better than both those players. Not being a knob, but that's the truth
- SmielmaN

Emelin is not a 1st line player. Period.

We are stacked with left hand dmen.

Lol. Depth. Yeah that's why they can't play right now...
- ghostofRC

Beaulieau can't play because of depth, yes. Emelin, Markov and Tinordi are above him as we speak, but Beaulieu should be in the NHL right now.

But keep on sucking.

You need to trade for a star defenseman, before he is one (Mcdonagh).

You trade for a guy who will be able to be that first pair defenseman in 2 or 3 years.

- deadpoulet

We already have a couple in the system. Do some research. Nurse, Marincin and Klefbom are all projecting to be top pair D in a few years. Again, Why invest in Larrson? He isn't likely going to be much better than those 3.

Well we did win our last 3 games so .....

Oh I'm sure talks are simmering down but I've been watching their games with my new center ice package (thanks RDS blackout) and they aren't what I would describe as exceptional.

There is no fit between the 7-1 Habs and the $6 mil Eberle. He is a small skilled forward that could help a lot of teams but I don't see the fit with Mtl
- Champ

fair.

these rumours need to die. I could see a few teams looking for a complementary 1RW wanting him but you know who also needs eberle? Edmonton.

We brought in Nikitin and or Fayne for that role. Emelin is not going to be better than them.

Top pair guy or nothing is all the Oil need on the back end.

- ghostofRC

To start with the Habs are NOT trading Emelin and have not even considered it. This is HB speculation on this blog only. I would be willing to bet all 30 teams would choose Emelin over Nikitin or Fayne and that is not because they are bad but only because Emelin is better and plays with an edge.

Dam right! It is nothing but a rumour. Emelin is going nowhere. Beaulieu could be the one on the outs.

Do they still have extra-crispy in Canada? I always just go with original.

sure but the upgrade is marginal, and not worth anywhere near the cost of Eberle.

and he wouldn't be a fit either. EDM has Klefbom who could be playing the same 3rd pairing role right now. He's lighting up the AHL (short sample) while Ference sh*ts the bed up north, though

Definitely better than Nikitin but is he better than Fayne? Both are quality physical shut down D. I'm not attached to Fayne like you would be to Emelin and I think it would be tight
- TheNugeIsHuge

Well we can agree to disagree but Emelin is a better D than most give him credit for. I would keep Emelin if the trade was for both those D but that's me. Not putting down your guys, just would keep Emelin if the options were keep him or have those two. He's been a great piece of the D core.

Emelin is a good 2nd pairing D. Edmonton needs a good 1st pairing D. A top 40-50 D in the league, at least.

Are u guys (frank)ing stupid? These proposals for Eberle are brutal. Unless you have a legitimate 1d that you will part with then Eberle stays.

Eberle for 2depth players and a second seems to be the one I see most

Go have some more KFC You clearly have no idea how good Emelin is as you most likely only watch the Oiler and whoever they play. Also please stop this talk about Emelin because he is not even on the table as far as the Habs are concerned.

Just curious, would you consider Seabrook a top pairing D?

I hope Emelins not up for a trade lol. But if he is then Habs management must be completely in love with Tinordi/beaulieu

And I don't want Bergevin to trade him. But if I am another team GM, I make phone calls about him for sure.

He could play right away for the Flyers and many teams in need for a defenseman. Usefull on the pp.

I agree Eberle offers are ridiculous. The guy is a supreme talent and most offers are garbage. Keep him, Eakins will be gone soon and Eberle will return to form.

He might upgrade our Defense ever so much, but he won't fix the issues on our backend.
- Jeropotato

He could a good addition/ improvement to you guys, but not a top pair guy. Yet, anyway. But certainly not at the cost of Eberle.

To you BUF fans, I totally get the idea behind asking for a ransom or just don't move him. Same battle we had with TOR fans last year re: Giordano. But seriously, the guy is low value right. He's been mediocre at best over the last 3 seasons.

Please stop? It isn't Oilers fans involving Emelin in there talks. Most of us are not that enamoured with yet another 2nd pairing Left handed D.
