The Oilers suck and have been sucking since 2006. This is why they need to do something.

So what would you suggest

I'm alright with that.... But you make it sound the 'the Oilers' iced the exact same line up for the last decade.

The classic trade for the sake of a trade?

Simple it's not enough for Myers
- Mathwil3

And 28 goal/65pnt players are not worth much in this league?

Why not just do Myers for Eberle?
- hereticpride

That'd be dumb... Eberle's nothing without Hall.

Getting a true number 1 goalie and some defensemen (top 2)? Strop drafting smalls forwards who always goes down with an injury?

And yes, they may need to move Eberle or Yak.

They haven't drafted a small forward in a few years, or did you forget about Nurse, Draisautl and Yakimov?

So how much more? I really want to see how badly you over value Myers and u dervalue Eberle.
- Jeropotato

YOu guys got to come off of it. Eberle would be lost without Hall.

You're not the GM.

I don't think people realize how good Emelin is. I would not trade him straight up for Tyler Myers. Emelin completes hard every shift, hits hard and is good offensively despite playing in the shadows of Subban and Markov.

Well we aren't trading Hall either so why not keep the complimentary player?

I think he is better than what people think as well, but he is not a number one defenseman. The Oilers need that in a bad way.

Not gonna to argue with that....wouldn't mind trading a major piece to get one either, but there doesn't appear to be many available. We have plenty of 2nd pairing D, adding another won't do much to us.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nill pull of another big trade for a D man. Outside of Daley and Goligoski we've been playing two rookies with a combined 5 games of experience and another pairing with 2 seasons experience. Nemeth is done for the year. We have the pieces to move for a young top 4 D.

Looking at the posts of Sabres fans in this thread, I can clearly see why you did not pick up on my sarcasm.

Not devaluing Eberle at all I think he is a very good player. I just think in the position the Sabres are in we can get somebody to do something stupid. As long as there are desperate GMs ala Filip Forsberg for Martin Erat. I will sit on Myers and milk someone either desperate to make the playoffs or think they can win it all as Myers as the missing piece. Otherwise keep him
- Mathwil3

That makes sense and the fact that Myers is even available is because the Sabres themselves are not sure he will ever return to his rookie season form. I have him in a keeper and watch him pretty close and for the most part he is lacking confidence he once had. I agree wait for the right offer and rape somebody who will overpay.

Emelin is often seen as just a big hitter but he is a very good second pair D. Myers, to me, might be a flash in the pan with his rookie year. He hasn't really matched that level since, but to be fair Buffalo is kind of a train wreck so who knows if he would flourish in a better system/team with a solid Vet or two to help him out. If you go by what Myers has done lately then his contract is basically for his size. He's kind of a risk reward trade, but if Buffalo is asking for a crazy amount then he isn't going anywhere because who knows what player he actually is. Is he the ROTY winner or is he the guy we have seen the last few seasons? I don't know and that's probably why he hasn't moved yet. His value is low, imo.

Sometimes I wonder if with these trade proposals, posters put any thought into the the other teams perspective?

Like the Oilers would look at this deal and say ' we're making out like gangbusters with this deal'.

Just a note on Emelin, the Habs are a much better team with a healthy Emelin. He is a fun guy to watch and is always in the middle of the physical stuff. Seems to me when he got injured last year it coincided with Habs having trouble winning.

He might upgrade our Defense ever so much, but he won't fix the issues on our backend.
