i think the pens could eat that $900k - pensfan024
That would leave the Pens with ~$800k and the kings with $0 in cap space. I would assume both teams would want more space than that after giving up those two players. |

In regards to Petry I would prefer them to resign and keep him than get anything less than a roster player or an extremely high pick.
Only thing is they probably won't get anything for him and then he will walk.
Thats the risks. |

They'll resign him. Best dman in the team. |

As much as I hate to say it, I'm not positive they will. They seem not to realize how valuable he is and the oilers don't exactly have a huge chunk of cap space. |

Too many Oiler fans over value Petry but by the same token many other fans under value him.
He is extremely inconsistent and prone to very bad mistakes. But kind of does everything well at most times.
I see him as a decent #4 on a playoff team. A decent #3 depending on coach/systems/partner is his possible upside as he is just entering his peak as defenseman go.
Rare and valueable in todays NHL.
At times the Oilers best defenseman but IMO well down the depth chart. If he wasn't a right handed shot he would already be gone. |

The asking price for a 5/6 Dman is not a 1st rounder and a roster player, unless the 1st rounder is like 25+ overall and the roster player is another 5/6 Dman on a bad contract.
I understand that some GMs may be holding teams over a barrel but that isn't the price for actual 5/6 dman. It may be the price for a kid with big upside who is playing that position. - Aetherial

Larsson for Bärtschi straight up - Rangers_Suck01
Good trade for both teams. I really think Larsson needs a change of scenery |

If the Pens could get a 1st round pick for Paul Martin right now I do it in a second. |
