So Lecavalier isn't a good player? Brayden Schenn hasn't has moments of being a good player? You name Kessel but Tyler Bozak isn't exactly carrying them to the playoffs. Kessel isn't on the ice killing penalties with JvR.
- SuperSchennBros

Not to the level that Kessel is offensively.

Even the Red Wings broadcast team disagree with the refs on that call.

Using the examples you gave, please tell me, other than the contracts they signed, what Lundqvist cost the Rangers to acquire and what Chara cost the Bruins to acquire and the ages of those players when they signed with their teams?

After that please tell me how those teams put their eggs all in one basket?

Imo, merely having a young star player on your team is not putting "all their eggs" in one basket. Giving up a ton of assets to acquire a star player is putting "all their eggs" in one basket. When that player is over 35+ and put under contract until their 42 that is putting all your eggs in a short term, high risk, basket.

Lundqvist didn't handicap team depth and neither did Chara, Pronger did in a big way.

- Flyers_01

What it cost to acquire them doesn't matter. Bottom line is that if Lundqvist goes down, the Ranger chance of winning the Cup goes with it. If Chara goes down, Boston's chance of winning the Cup goes with it. The Flyers team depth was handicapped so much, that they went to the Cup finals. It was a great trade, and a trade I'd make over and over. When you can acquire a legitimate game changer, the price is worth it. 35+ doesn't have anything to do with it.

Hagg doing his best to show the organization there is no need to sign another vet on the blueline. Now 5 points in 5 games and apparently playing in all situations. I'm not sure why Murray at his age wants to continue to ride the buses in the AHL, but our prospects are in good hands.

Nice to see we brought up Ghost.

With the lowest ice time of any of the d-men, the development process is underway.

- flyer_nutter

Hyperbole. Gostisbehere is keeping his shifts short, and he hasn't been out for some of the shifts where the Flyers have been hemmed in their own end. His shift total is right there with all the other defenseman.

I'd say Simmonds is in pretty good company both five on five and the PP when healthy. Schenn, Briere and Lecavalier five on five, Giroux, Voracek, Timonen, Hartnell and Streit on the PP.

Edit

The past number of seasons.

They help distract me from Akeson having the lowest ice time among forwards and the same for Ghost and the D-men.

I knew he'd get one this year. I bet he gets a second
- PhillySportsGuy

If he does, it only means he won't score at all next year to compensate for this years scoring explosion.
