I hate when people say he has to earn it. He is a elite athlete who has earned the right to be the second pick. Why not play him 15 minutes a night for 9 games and see what happens. How has a guy like Mitchell earned it.

That's true though. About half our home grown guys never had to beat anybody out for a roster spot. I remember when ennis was up and comming, Connolly got hurt and ennis stepped in to center hect and pommer and that line was red hot. He also had to battle up and comming prospects like Kennedy and gerbe. Foligno kinda earned his stripes but stafford really was handed a roster spot. Weber was just in the system long enough where the sabres started needing roster spots at defense. Flynn did good at the ahl level but he never did enough to earn a roster spot on the sabres. Man I remember when we had a team where kotalik and pomminville were call ups and they were scoring for us and still couldn't stay on this roster.

It should be all about results. Both of our franchises have had plenty of good "practice players" that have never delivered when it matters over the years. When the games are played for real, very few players doing anything of real value. Not to mention, Coach Theo has been complimenting Reinhart's efforts in practices as of late. So unless he's a liar for sport, that argument holds no water either.
