i put almost zero stock into pre-season games
I saw enough to be positive about the pick

off to a good start in SEL
the fact non leaf "experts" are talking about him is also a good sign

- senstroll

I'm always interested in any and every kid the Leafs draft good or bad. Nice to see some early success for Nylander.

Should I point out your grammatical error, or just the fact you spelled grammar wrong?

It's fantastic to read stuff like this, because I'm tired of not hyping up Leafs draft picks.

We need to build up expectations about these guys.

Hail them as the next Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr.

Keep placing heavier and heavier metaphorical weights upon their shoulders - because that's like resistance training, right?

Sounds like Corey Pronman (no idea who he is) has seen one game with Nylander in the SHL. He's seen enough.

Nylander is better than McDavid.

He's better than Crosby.

He's better than you and me.

In every single way.

GO LEAFS GO!

- Atomic Wedgie

Big hockey fan? He does the prospects list and draft projections for ESPN. I bet he knows who you are though...

Oh dear.

He's better than you and me. Grammatically correct.

He's better than you and I are. Grammatically correct.

He's better than you and I. Grammatically incorrect.

I hope this helps.

Lol, exactly!

As for Nylander, I hope he shows more in the SEL and has a great year more so than he did here because frankly he was a disappointment at camp and pre season.

- LeafMan

Really? A disappointment is when he puts in a poor showing in his 3rd camp after acclimating to the North American game. What did you realistically expect from an 18 year old, 180 lb prospect just drafted? He wasn't ready for the show, but he wasn't out of place and certainly didn't embarass himself.

When you see three good shifts combined out of all the games he played, I call it as I see it, a disappointment this camp.

trollish

Of or pertaining to a troll, in either the mythical or irritating sense.

1. Edvard Greig is a rather trollish composer.

2. He was acting rather trollish when he told her that she's a whore.

Fair enough. To me, Matt Frattin was a disappointment in camp. Nylander made me optimistic about his potential.

Hey, I hope he tears it up in the SEL, in no way have I given up on him, I just did not see enough to call him an elite prospect yet.

Thanks a lot, The Eye.

I just got a 4-month ban from Leafman.

I was just trying to help.

What the hell am I going to do for 4 months?

I suppose I could actually do work...

What if Ek officially appointed me as the Hockeybuzz Grammar and Spelling Referee?

Can you bring it up with him the next time you guys go for drinks?

Thanks

I'm not trying to be difficult - I am confident that enough people that are paid to evaluate talent have already gone on record saying he has elite level skills to believe it. For a guy like him the development needed came in the way of practice, being around professionals as they prepare for practice/play, got a benchmark of his conditioning and certainly a training plan to employ during the season...he did enough good things in games for me to say he's a high-end prospect and certainly the potential to be a top 3 forward. Informed debate never hurt anyone though - that's why there's chocolate and vanilla
