Anaheim drafted Perry and Getzlaf 28th and 19th overall, respectively, in the same draft. You could literally build a perennial playoff contending core from two 1st round picks. - rangerdanger94
That's assuming we actually draft well in the first round.... |

Draft is a total crapshoot. It just takes a bit of luck. A team like Colorado drafted Duchene 2nd overall and then O'Reilly early in the 2nd round the same draft year...then there are other teams who have multiple picks in the first 2 rounds and get 0 NHL players. |

Especially after seeing how well Hemsky was playing. He would have been a nice fit on our team. |

Brunner played well as did Josefson.
I am still excited about Severson, he seems to see plays before they develop. The kid is impressive.
Cammi needs to be back on the first line. I am pretty sure we saw the first line intact toward the end of the game last night, I hope that will remain consistent moving forward.
Sal actually made a few good plays last night. He still was not great but was not all that terrible either. He played with some desperation for sure.
The Devils pretty much got ran over all night with the exception of very early in the game. The Stars are one of the better teams in the NHL and have a lot of offensive talent so at least they got a point.
On to Ottawa. A win tonight would be really great. |

there's obviously more than just the couple of mistakes you are all noticing otherwise other teams would be calling up inquiring about him. knowing how he is being handled and that they would be able to get him cheaper because of it. maybe devils fans are expecting more JUST because he was a 4th overall pick? there have been top 4 picks that were busts before. they aren't guaranteed elite players. if he was as good as people make him out to be he would at least be on another team with a regular shift. |

Q had 4 points last night so that's nice to see. 10 in 5 is a solid start for a two-way forward. |

Lou might not be listening to calls right now about him. I posted in another blog a while ago all of the defense taken in the first round that year and their career totals and he is certainly not a bust. He is 21. Every other defense men gets till they are 24 and some of the players taken in that first round are just playing in their first games this year... Is seth Jones a bust because he isnt a norris candidate in his second year? he actually looks worse this year then he did last it just comes with starting in the nhl vs staying in jr or the ahl these guys will still be good players they just need the same patience given to every defenseman. |
