i'll be fair in saying Larsson wasn't exactly stellar, but 1 game where he gets less than 4 mins in the 3rd and that's enough to say that he has to do better? seems a little harsh, Todd must be drinking that PDB koolaid and lots of it

Here's all I am going to say, if I had to play Sal and were dressing the best 5 of the rest, I'd pick larsson to sit too. Nothing against him as a player or his potential, but I don't think he can play under pete. He needs to get out of here asap.

Sven is a LW 2013 13th overall & his ELC is up come July & a RFA. Larsson being on a 1 way is not a big deal, we are so desperate for a RHD & we could easily fold him into the 3rd pairing to get his game back because we have Smid & Wideman & even Engelland
Right now Diaz is our # 7 on a cheap 1 year deal. No problem putting him on waivers & eating that contract down in Addy. Or we can ship him off to the Bruins

Would love to see what Hartley could do with Larsson. We have nothing much coming up the pipe on D & we are stocked huge on LW & forwards.

Larsson isn't going to become Hedman or Lidstrom for anyone. He's the kind of defenseman you build around because he makes smart decisions: a "thinking" defenseman. I like it, but coaches don't, since they're unpredictable. 25-40 points, 2nd pairing with a lot of utility... that's essentially his ceiling right now. Who knows, maybe he'll be better... I don't think so, though.

He's not a fit for this hockey team... the Devils don't want their young players to "think". He's a fit for Buffalo's system or Winnipeg's system, and that's probably where they should deal him.

I'm sort of sick of this situation and I hope it ends soon.

Larsson just isn't good. You guys only notice one or 2 mistakes per game but pete likely notices numerous mistakes every single shift. You just dont have the advanced eyes to break them down.

lol uh huh. Maybe he can point out to all of us all the good plays Salvador makes and then tell us with a straight face that it happens more then he costs us goals. The guy either has a grudge against him or his hands are tied. Either way Larsson has made the team the last two years only to be shafted. Gelinas and him where arguably our best pairing for a good period until Larsson had a minor injury that misteriously kept him out for a month then they sent him to albany for a conditioning stint and never got another chance because of the players up with one way contracts. There has been a lot more fishy stuff going around Larsson then there has been him just sucking and that's not being a homer. I promise you any trade we do that involves him we will lose because he is a heck of a talent and needs a change of scenery and some confidence put back in his game. If a team like carolina took a risk on him he would likely get to play and they would build his confidence back up. That's something that won't happen here. I honestly feel bad for the kid and any damage that has been done to him isn't really his doing he has just been handled wrong. He came along in a time when we brought up defense man differently and only recently have we changed that.

His value is low right now but that doesn't mean he won't be a great player. It just likely means he won't be a great player for us and we look stupid for how we handled the situation. Just think of how much higher his value could of been had we traded him the second the decision to keep Severson up was made. Then he doesn't start the season as a healthy scratch for 5 straight games. Not saying his value didnt take a hit until this season but I think that is really what got the train rolling on him. Anyone who doesn't watch him and has only checked in on him to see whats up will see that he doesn't have many points and has been a healthy scratch numerous times but that's on the Devils for not playing him in Albany from day one and making him stuck in no mans land. But He doesn't get time on the pp like most players you would be comparing him to. If people watched him play every night they would see he has played well enough to be on the Devils.
