Ah the Larsson situation.



Poor bastard.

It's weird with coaches, they seem to bear down on some kids way harder than others. We see it here with Sven Baertche, who had an excellent preseason & is playing a way better 200 foot game. & he he still can't crack the lineup. Sven is our version of Turris & can be a top 6 forward just needs a change of scenery. I think Larsson for Sven is a match made in heaven for both organizations. Both these kids have high ceilings & both desperate need of change of sceneries & fresh starts on teams that have the organizational needs for the positions they play. Just a thought. Wouldn't have to tweak that trade too much.

Not being a Devils fan I can still totally sympathize with how badly Larsson is being treated. Is Lou pissed off at Larsson for something? Is PDB one of the worst coaches in the league or is he being forced to play lesser players just because Lou loves vets?

Yeah, I just seems that Larsson needs to get out of this situation and Lou needs to step in and say something, like "hey Pete, for crisssakes, play the kid so that I can trade him - oh and bench the guy YOU appointed".

Yea we talked about this in a previous blog. I would swap those two at this point, they are both from the 2011 draft. Only thing would be, or at least I think it might be an issue is Larsson is on a one way deal and would have to clear waivers if you don't have a roster spot for him right now. I assume Sven is already in the minors and would likely spend the year there (we have to many forwards with one ways that will play before he gets a call up). He would likely explode on to our team next year with Elias getting another year older and the uncertainty of whether or not Jagr will be back and Ryder,Brunner,Ruutu,Zubs all having only this season remaining on their contracts.

Everything is just speculation on why Larsson isn't really playing. That's the toughest part of being a Devils fan, they always bullpoop to the media playing down stuff.

Salvador (frank)ing sucks I don't care how much of a leader he is, he's not good at hockey.

And if Larsson is traded I hope he becomes (frank)ing lindstrom, I don't care for what team just as long as he makes Pete look like a dope.

i'll be fair in saying Larsson wasn't exactly stellar, but 1 game where he gets less than 4 mins in the 3rd and that's enough to say that he has to do better? seems a little harsh, Todd must be drinking that PDB koolaid and lots of it

Coach genius strikes again...At least it seems he's finally moving Gio out of center. That's a plus considering he is an automatic face off loss every time hes out there. Jo can't possibly be any worse and at least it's his natural position.

Not only that but he shuffles the lineup in ways that make zero sense. Sometimes you need to shuffle things up but this guy only shuffles the same poop over and over.

you said it, man. Lemaire had tedenby looking like a solid player to have. sucks we lost larry robinson as well. he seemed to actually have faith in larsson. i was at opening night, mirco muller gave ruutu a solid little battle behind the night ending with a border line high cross check. right when he got back to the bench all i could see was robinson smackin his ass loving it. i remember when larry was smacking larsson ass after his first nhl goal. now that was sexy.

Oh yeah and he has the same one for Severson as well. I agree I like them both but he acts like they never make mistakes when I saw Severson turn the puck over at our blue line at least twice last game. Larsson does it once and he is sat for the rest of the game basically and now press boxed... Such a blatant double standard. And don't get me wrong here i'm not calling for Severson or Merril to be benched I just want Larsson to be treated the same an allowed to just play.

Larsson isn't going to become Hedman or Lidstrom for anyone. He's the kind of defenseman you build around because he makes smart decisions: a "thinking" defenseman. I like it, but coaches don't, since they're unpredictable. 25-40 points, 2nd pairing with a lot of utility... that's essentially his ceiling right now. Who knows, maybe he'll be better... I don't think so, though.

He's not a fit for this hockey team... the Devils don't want their young players to "think". He's a fit for Buffalo's system or Winnipeg's system, and that's probably where they should deal him.
