You also have to keep in mind that ok so you pay Malkin that much , but at the same time he's so good that he turns the players around him into more than we're paying them, so it's not just his salary but the better play from lesser players offset some of what we pay him. - Bradlee3
But those nights when he doesn't show up and those players are revealed for what they are, it balances out. |

Ok, how about B. Schenn and Scott Laughton - usethe1-2-2
You change Scott Laughton to goal-scoring legend Zac Rinaldo and you've got a deal. |

BTW, there was a Pens PP last night and the top lined was pulled with like 1:20 left on the PP, Malkin was shaking his head looking pissed. - sammy87
I noticed that too... I think it was the penalty that Spaling drew, so it wasn't even like the top unit players were out there before.
You gotta keep that first unit on for like 1:15 if they've had any sort of sustained pressure. |

Same goes for Crosby though. How is that any different? Geno was great last night for the vast majority of the game. |

Well, by goal scoring I meant agitating with the occassional fight and/or suspension. |

Hey, Rinaldo has three times as many shots on goal as Adams and Sill combined, so I might have to think about that if they take those two back |

A secondary assist and 1 shot is great?
Crosby had some great chances, but Howard was pretty solid most of the game. |

Henrik Zetterberg is just as good as they come. He gets overshadowed by Datsyuk, and he has had his share of injury issues the last few years, but if he was North American or played for a Canadian team, he'd be viewed in the same category as a guy like Patrice Bergeron. - rival22
Pretty sure Z is thought of more highly than Bergeron. |

Crosby takes a selfish penalty late in the game for the third time this season and no backlash? Yet Malkin produces and he is lazy? His line controlled the game everytime they had the puck, while Crosby's line fumbled around like it was their rookie season.
Crosby got out played two games in a row now and needs to step up. |

Someone already said it but I would take him over Adams or Sill. They have nothing right now. |

Secondary, Primary, who cares. An assist is an assist. I hate how people act like secondary assists don't matter. They do, could have been a breakout pass, or a pass out of the corner before a pass across the crease... the importance of primary and secondary assists are jokes to me. |

Was Malkin on the ice for the game tying goal for his defensive prowess? |

I'm not in love with keeping MAF long term, but promoting someone we saw a small sample of last night to hold the fort for several years until the prospects might one day take over is IMO a worse idea than musical chairs. If Greiss can prove to be a starter then keep him. If MAF wants to stay for under 4, id keep him. I would like a back up to handle 25-30 games/yr. Halak would have been nice, but we were a yr off. - sammy87
He won't stay under 4. No way no how. I'd be bowled over if he is less than 6. |

Just in case you guys missed it, the Flyers will be missing both Braydon Coburn and Andrew MacDonald for 4 weeks each. Maybe you could rape us in a Martin trade. - jmatchett383
Just take Scuderi. He will be your best defenseman. |

Tiops is saying flyers might come calling on scuds... I'll take a 5th for Scuds from them
Ok ok a 6th will work for me...
So if ebbett and harrington down I'm guessing bennett and borts will be cleared to play but doesn't that still leave 1 or 2 spots left on 23 man roster??? |

No way. Zetterberg in his prime maybe. Bergeron is one of the top 2-way centers in hockey. Could be a 35/45/80 guy if all he cared about was offense. |

And Z could be a 110-120 pt guy if all he cared about was offense. Newsflash Z has 10pts in 7 games. Bergeron is a great player but Z is and has always been better. |

Dumbest argument ever. If you could score 110, you freaking would. No one is not going to shoot the puck in this league.

2013-14
Z: 48pts in 45 games +35 on ice goal differential
Bergeron: 62pts in 80 games +44 on ice goal differential |
