Well don't you agree based on his play, Schultz should remain in the lineup?
- PLindbergh31

Yeah, he's played well.

I think both are legit. Not cup contenders but playoff caliber
- PhillySportsGuy

Let it be understood that by "down to earth" I don't mean they'll get a lottery pick. I think the Isles will hover around .500 at the end of the day.

The Flyers will be the last team out of the playoffs and will be pegged to select 14th. And on the day of the Draft Lottery, a rainy day, the clouds shall part and a beam of sunlight so bright that all the attending GMs will have to look away. Except for Hextall, who will bathe in the warm glow of the Hockey Gods' beacon. In that moment, it will be announced by Fabio atop his majestic stallion, that the Flyers, with a 1.0% chance of winning the Draft Lottery, will be selecting first overall. They will select Connor McDavid on the day of the draft and the city of Philadelphia will be filled with such ecstasy as has not been seen since the 1975 Stanley Cup Victory. The next day, McDavid will be swimming off the coast of Wildwood and his leg will be torn off by a Great White.

Surprisingly well. Is it sustainable? Probably not. But he should stay in there until he falters.

More legit: preds or Isles?
- PhillySportsGuy

I like the Isles this year.

Especially if the goaltending holds up.
D is underrated and their forwards are really good.

Yeah. The division will be a cluster(frank). I think the Isles will be in it to the end like the Flyers, Devils and Caps. I think pens, rags and jackets all get in with a little room to spare

Absolutely. He's regressed to the mean. How is it possible to be in the 150's among dmen in TOI, and be next to last in +/- ? That's insane.

Here's the scary thing:

After being 8 points out of a playoff spot, the Flyers will trade 2 of their current top-6 defenders. After which, the Flyers will enter a 3-way tie along with Carolin and Ottawa for final 2 spots with 2 games left to go. On April 9th, they will lose a 1-0 game versus the Hurricanes with Nicklas Grossmann scoring the only goal, and lose 1-0 on the final day of the season to the Ottawa Senators care of a Luke Schenn goal.

Because he and MDZ don't play well together, break them up and I think both of thier numbers improve...

I don't necessarliy agree with what Bill has to say in regards to Mason. Steve Mason makes enough big saves( Emery has as well) to keep the team in the game and to ask him to make "one more big save" is IMO wrong. How about asking the team to step up and support their netminder by playing some defense. Instead they continue to play recklessly and leave it up to the goalie to bail them out. The goaltending has been very good this year and is in no way the reason why the Flyers have the start they have.

Because he was -5 against the Ducks, in a game full of offense to the tune of 11 goals

His +/- will go back up

Even beyond the optics (re: the trade), scratching Schenn would be a tough pill to swallow. But in a vacuum, he seems to be the prime candidate.

Mason has made the saves he's supposed to make, and he's also made some very remarkable saves. However, for this Flyers' team to succeed, Mason needs to play more lights out like Game 7 of the Rangers series on a more consistent basis. I don't think anyone is looking past the fact that the team in front of his leaves him to fend for himself at times, but the team needs him to be better than "good" to win consistently.

I would have said MDZ a week ago, but he's had 2 solid games. I'd go with Schenn.
