So much for giving the prospects time... but I have to say I am really excited to watch him play.

Honestly, picture him out there and the G/Jake line on the ice, well that is going to be high octane no doubt.

I mean, there is nothing to say that Ghost is going to stay for a long period of time. At most I could see Ghost staying for a few weeks unless he really becomes a game changer. I'd love to see him force their hand, but more than likely, he gets sent back down once Coburn/AMac come back.

I'd have liked alt better yes. Personally I would have liked an approach to give ghost and the other more promising prospects as much time developing as possible. Especially with the poop show the nhl club is.

I'm all for patience, but it's not a huge deal. He's an injury call up, a few weeks isn't likely to hurt him.

Son. With you a discussion is pointless. As likely as I am to question them you are as likely to defend them at all cost. I think both of our routines are pretty predictable to be honest. I can admit this.
- flyer_nutter

I'm willing to have a discussion. Give a valid point of why it's a problem calling up Gostisbehere?
I'll criticize them when it's warranted. It is not in this situation.

If he had a chance to play with say timonen id be more comfortable. The quality of a partner and mentor he will have is pretty low. Alt would have been a safer choice in my opinion. Or manning but not sure on his recall status.

That was the approach. Now the Flyers are down 3 quality NHL defenseman. That tends to change a teams approach.

I expected Alt and would be more comfortable with him, but if Ghost is who they think is the best guy to call up for a month then there's no need to freak out.

Calling up a player from the AHL is not permanent. He can be sent back down.

Petry has played in 6 out of the 7 games Edmonton has played. And he's averaging over 18 minutes a game.
- MJL

The game he missed he was a healthy scratch and Edmonton is not overwhelmed with defensive talent. Also, Nick Schultz and MDZ average over 18 minutes a game and were acquirable for nothing contracts.

I'm not worried, unless he sets the world on fire he'll be back with the Phantoms in due time.

I think it's going to be exciting seeing what Gostisbehere can do at the NHL level. And there is also opportunity here for other players such as Luke Schenn. He is going to get a chance to get more minutes, and an opportunity to elevate his game. If he does well, that could be good for further down the season.

Ladies & Gentlemen, it's official:

@NHLFlyers 3m3 minutes ago
BREAKING: The #Flyers have recalled D Shayne Gostisbehere from the @LVPhantoms. Details → http://nhlflye.rs/Dja7T

- mcefalu

I think now would be the best time to demote one of 76 (most likely) and 41, while in the process ofggetting Laughton and Gostisbehere in tomorrow. A new look, a new mix and you add two players who are playing well right now.

I was just wondering if Gostisbehere could play the left side.

Just Gostisbehere. Alt had a nameplate at Voorhees, which the press figured meant he was the guy
