I think Ghost should be called up. Not for any other reasons besides it being near Halloween.

Smooth skater, good size, powerful wrister. I would say he is like a better playmaking Jeff Carter

Can they find a way to recall Goulbourne?

I know that's because you didn't, someone else did, which is why I made that comment (albeit more sarcastic than reality).

Ha, gotcha. Yeah, I am not in favor of using Nick Schultz on the top pair.

Even with today's news, I'm not sure the team is bad enough to get to draft #2. They theoretically could win the lottery...but really, this is Philly.

I think the fan fantasy target should be someone like Strome. He'd look great in 2 years as #2 center. Couts slots in as your 3rd line guy, and Laughton becomes an asset for a winger. When defense matures, they would potentially be in great shape.

Some have may have already seen this & take this with a grain of salt since it's so early but this is a 2015 mock draft from Draft Site that has Flyers taking Bittner. Makes sense based on our lack of LW depth

EDIT: And that's if we pick that high

flyers will draft him and then we'll have annual debates as to whether or not he'll leave school early (a la JVR).

and if he doesn't, whether or not he's committed to playing hockey in the NHL.

I doubt he goes that high in the draft. In that spot, I would have us taking Strome, Barzal, and Konecny before him

Yeah could be. I would think if they draft another center and one in the top ten, one of our younger center prospects gets traded. They can't keep this lack of LW depth going forever

Thanks for that link!!

Let's see...why do they have the Flyers picking a 6'4" power forward? Never saw that before.

I would much rather have Strome. Based on what I've read, he's got much more skill. And keep in mind I think they need to draft more natural wingers too.

Reading the Twitter universe I get the feeling Hexy is looking to get a D man via trade or sign someone rather then call up a player.

That's what I personally would do. As I've said, not sure about Couts and Laughton as 2 and 3C. IF they draft high enough to get a true impact guy, I'd do that and try to package Laughton for a young, up and coming LW. Add Aube-Kubel, someone like Strome and another LW you get from a Laughton D, and you'd have a lineup that would come at you in waves.

If that's true, I'm hoping its a Gormley or a Mueller over a veteran rental

I hope to God he is. As long as it is a smart trade. It's obvious teams know we are dealing from a point of weakness but that doesn't mean he still can't make a good trade.
It's easy to say now but he should have made a deal to upgrade D long ago.

Yeah, Strome probably is the more skilled player. I just feel like the whole "drafting the best available player" philosophy is going to bite them in the a$$ eventually. I know trading is an option but the circumstances have to be right for a trade to work

Normally I completely agree. But this draft is loaded with centers. Hard to go away from that if you're drafting top 10, unless you can get Hanifan.
