Good, the real you is back
Disagree about LSCHENN
Pair him with Amac and see
I like MDZ but the pairing with Luke is a best a work in progress and at worst good for a major F-up once or twice a game - Marc D
L. Schenn was a top 5 draft pick, it's his 7th year in the NHL, and the Flyers traded a 30 goal power forward for him.
We have to worry about sheltering him? At this stage shouldn't he be at the very least anchoring a second pairing? He's last in icetime on a patchwork defense core that has been playing without Coburn all year, and no Timonen. It's sink or swim time. |

It grates me just to see Luke Schenn on the ice at this point, but I think you have to keep running him out there on the off chance that he finds his game.
I'd give it another couple of weeks before I start asking "should I bench Luke Schenn", but I don't know if Berube will. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Schenn was scratched when Coburn said he was ready to be back in the lineup. - johndewar
Hextall may have missed his opportunity to trade him.

They let him play more with Christopher Letang to make up for this though, so it's a wash |

All true and the trade was not good value for them.
I still think LS is an ok defenseman especially if with the right partner.
He is a second pair D man with AMac on this team and also think the way MDZ plays has made Luke's stats worse.
I wouldn't trade him for a 2nd rounder but that is probably his current value. You are selling low I think, only getting a 2nd back.
Maybe I'm drinking the Orange koolaide here. |

Agree here, I think at the TDL maybe a 2nd, but not right now. I think he is a 3rd pair Dman, maybe a 2nd pair with the right player, unfortunately playing with MDZ has not worked. I wonder how long it will take chief to try something different |

Agreed. Players like Claude Giroux and Shea Weber are only available with top-end lottery picks. - jmatchett383
Yeah I would rather have them than Toews and Doughty and their multiple Stanley Cups.
Fun fact their has only be two cup winners since 1995 that didn't have a top 5 pick key contributor on their roster, Detroit 2008 and Boston 2011 (if you don't count Seguin). So 2 in 19 but high picks don't matter. |

I don't think you are drinking kool-aid Marc. I respect your opinion. I just feel Schenn is what he is at this point. |

I know everyone is high on this year's draft but there is a chance the pick becomes a bust. I personally would rather get a prospect back, someone who is at least close to being an NHL player. I can see both sides of the argument |

It's runs pretty deep this year... good chance of getting a Bergeron/Backes/Weber/Eriksson with a top-60 pick. With the Flyers draft acumen, I like the odds. |

Getting Coburn back should be a big help. Also, any word on Lecavalier's return?
edit: nvm I can't read.
On a side note, this Kuemper kid for the Wild is, well, wild....4 games, 3 shutouts - Streit2ThePoint

Curious how you're counting this... because ANA didn't have a self-picked lottery guy in '07. Why wouldn't you count Seguin? 7pts in 13 games that run.
If it's just top-5 picks period, the Flyers actually have 3 on the active roster, and 6 top-10 picks. Of course, only Couturier was an in-house pick. |

When they even kept the pick!

Sure because he is definitely on the same level of the likes of Yzerman, Neidermayer, Crosby or even Lecavalier and E.staal. I could also point out that there has only been 1 cup winner, the 2008 Detroit, since the Rangers in 1994 to win a cup without finishing bottom 10 in the league twice 6 years prior to their first cup, but I am sure you think that is some random meaningless coincidence because all those picks didn't play for the winning team. Even though a lot times those pieces were used in important trades. But hey the Flyers commitment to being competitive has payed of with multiple cup wins in the last 30+ years... Oh wait.
I do have an edit though in that Peter Forsberg was taken 6th overall and not top 5 although one could say he wouldn't even be on the Aves without #1 overall Lindros. |

Who else? They haven't had many 2nd round picks in the last 10 years really. Nodl? Marshall? Ratchuk? Were those guys hyped like these current guys? |
