The only Backes play I saw was a Cancuck highlight where he looked like Brisebois, breezing by the Canuck player that sprung the Canucks for a goal.

There was a face wash of a Sedin in the 2nd that lasted quite a while, and then he got into it with someone at the end of the game at the buzzer.

Nothing to see here.

Only good thing that came out of last night was the magnet schedule.

What a terrible game.

Allen has played two games, and has been caught cheating in both games and beaten short side. I hope this isn't a habit that will continue, because NHL players are going to have a field day with him if he cheats regularly.

From what I have seen, it is already a habit. Three for three in games this year having this happen plus it happened in his last call up too and in WJC.

He almost seems to get happy feet at times, feeling like he has to move or over anticipate plays when he should quiet/settle down and be more direct with the shooter. Patience in net hasn't necessarily been shown to be his strong suit.

of course, he has a very small sample size relatively speaking and hopefully a good new goalie coach.

The shaft of Backes' stick seems oddly magnetized to Toews helmet. Backes tries time and again to pry his stick away only to have it pulled forcefully into the back of Toews head repeatedly.

It's so weird.

Toews shoud be thankful he doesn't still use the aluminum stick

The defensive lapse on the play i saw looked like my beer league game.

So I keep waiting for the Cole and Jackman people to start whipping but what I noticed on the highlights was yet another terrible decision by Leopold pinch when he shouldn't have that created a three on one that led to the GWG.

At this point, I'd much rather see Lindbohm over Leopold but I guess you have to save cap dollars later in case of real injuries i guess. At least if Lindbohm was making these mistakes you could say they were learning opportunities. Ugh.

Can Gunnar start playing soon, please?

Pretty accurate assessment of what's taken place so far. Bottom line, they're just not very good right now.

Here come the Backes Bashers

and the blues are over rated and paper champs blah blah blah

All 29 other teams would take Backes in a millisecond.

We tried with our Offer sheet! wish we had offered more, but I really wish we hadn't matched your guys offer on Bernier... that guy was a pile of poop.

So far it has been a shutout with every win, correct?

Shutout = win
Other team scores = loss

So the flyers need D, too bad Leopold wouldn't likely waive his no movement to go there and the Flyers don't have room for his cap hit, lol.

Petro is still making some good plays but it is noticeable that he is making more poor decisions with the puck and getting caught.

Also a number of goals have happened when the forwards are flying out of the zone without the puck. The late goal by the Rangers for example and the first one last night.

The gap closure is not very good for stretches of the game and it costs you.

The Bonnino goal was a great goal by the shooter. In the replay you have the knowledge of where he shoots the puck. But he changed the angle of the shot knowing where he wanted to go but showing he was going glove, which Allen had to think was coming as they had all game shot glove side.

Allen made some good saves but the third one was the weak one. What scared me about his play was his rebound control was lacking a bit. I say that but we have to keep in mind some of the plays required a lot of commitment for the first save with great looks for goal scorers. The first shot he made a great save. You will not see other teams have so much gap on the second shot. Because you will not see the gap yu will rarely see someone like Quick look bad because there will not be a clean chance at the rebound.

The Blues do not have the flu. The flu is a virus. They have some sort of bacterial issue going on. I do not know of anything that is bacterial, lasts this long and is this strong that is very easy to deal with. One guess is it some food borne illness. A few such diseases usually require things like cruise ships to be quarantined. So whatever is happening on the health side is scary.

Hitchcock is trying to reinvent the wheel and one has to winder why. Why do you pull your goalie with three and half minutes left in the game? Because honestly the other team is going to fire the puck at the net from distance all night long with that much time left and up two goals.

The players are not clicking well and we can safely say the Ott experiment was an utter failure. Finally Oshie and Bakes began to look more normal when they were on the same line. They were dominant.

Last night was the same thing that has doomed them in recent play offs. The opposing goalie is much better than there own. What is worse is that Vancouver is not that good of a team. Miller is not that good of a goaltender. But the Blues fail to find good scoring chances and to bury those chances. It was not so much Miller on that so called big save as it was the dman just getting his stick ever so slightly on Lethera's keeping him from roofing that shot.

My hope is that Allen can be that guy. But he needs to not look like Halak and catch the puck and do a bit better on rebound control. That said his team is terrible when dealing with net front pressure. It has been a team weakness for too long.

Cole played a much more sound game last night. But what scares me more often than not is that Petro and JayBo look mildly better than Jackman.

Perhaps we could move Berglund to the Oilers if they are still interested. Straight up for Perron? I would take that. But maybe a bit more could grab a kid like Yakupov?

Other than that I hold a small hope that the Blues can somehow get Babcock. I wish they would have signed Trotz. Hitch is not a terrible coach but he just lacks. He gets out coached too often.

Since the first game Leopold has looked pretty good. The problem has been our top dmen and our forwards lack of their normal good backchecking.

How many times this year have we seen our forwards running into each other especially taking the other out in the ozone with the play going the other way? Far too often for my taste.

I am not too worried yet. Better to play this way now then later in the season. Just want to get the other goaltender playing out of their mind part out of the way now rather then seeing it rear its ugly head in the real season...that is if we can get there.

The best part of the game last night was hearing the Canadian national anthem. I think they should play it every game since half the players in the league are Canadian.

There seems to be a lot wrong with the Blues right now. I don't like our team currently.

Must have missed the classic Backes cross check to the back AFTER the whistle, huh?

I wish Backes was half as dirty as Hawk fans make him out to be. He'd be a real force out there.
