I would agree with this If Nolan was in favor of keeping the younger players here to sort of mentor them, and teach them work ethic and professionalism, however he has blatantly said he prefers to have vets.

I don't hate Nolan, but this season is slowly changing the opinion I had of him previously.

With that said, he's better than Rolston or keeping Ruff around

- sbroads24

You cant just have a team full of prospects. Those kids still go through training camps. Some get 9 game auditions. It pays off. Atleast thats the thought. The Kings went through the same thing. Plenty of talent in Manchester. Some get call ups. Some the fans feel are playing good. But then are sent back down.

Does he have it in him? occasionally

There's the issue.

- dadeadhead

Sure, and when he does he is punished for it.

There is a big middle ground between him and Andre Benoit. One is soft, the other just isn't the nastiest player you will see

You made a good point Some don't understand.

Think of it as dog training . There are trainers for show dogs and then there are handlers. Dogs won't respond to a handler (great coach) if he wasn't properly trained .

Is he soft? no

Is he physical? not really

He is what he is and that's a very good not great defenseman.

The Fans may be, but the organization is not. It is evident by the amount of prospects and young talent currently on the roster and future high picks.

Again. Having a guy who is just better than everyone else, makes the team better. There is no denying that.

Again, not a knock on Eichel, just saying McDavid is better than him.

- ImThatGuy

agreed on the first "again"...pretty sure on the second...I know very little about eichel

then we get Eichel no big deal...

people have to understand how close these 2 are together it's not even funny

and the only Reason why Eichel is not a canadian..

- gerbe75pts

You need to understand how the media likes to play off of rivalries (i.e. US/Canada) and sensationalize 'competitions' (i.e. Eichel/McDavid) to generate hype for drafts. They do it every single year. Unless there is any serious change in performance or injury McDavid is going to be number one. Nice comment on the Canadian part though, that sure increased your credibility.

He's not bashing Canada. However US prospects don't get the spotlight like Canadian players do.

Crosby and McDavid were hyped from the age of 15. If Eichel were Canadian it's possible he woulod have gotten similar hype

The gap between the two is closer than you and many want to admit. If Eichel were able to play in the OHL you'd see that.

IMO Eichel will have just as good as if not a better season their rookie year as IMO he will be more prepared for the NHL do to playing college hockey.

I spoke to a few that went to last nights game and they do go to many OHL games a year. Was told of course McDaivd was the best player on the ice but all in told the talent level in jrs is watered down. It was a very sloppy game and watching college hockey is more entertaining as its a more well oiled machine.

I'm a pure has-been.

Once upon a time, I found myself in some pretty damn cool situations. But these days, it's just me, the kids' tuition, the mortgage and middle-age.

I'll be happy with either of them. Add either one to the guys we've drafted recently, and this team will make a playoff push.

Nolan is a guy you need. Just like the Kings needed Terry Murray. These are guys to teach the players how to play defense and work as a team. I think having Nolan as a coach will pay off later down the road. Why change a coach now. Your not going to the playoffs. Let him build some structure for these guys.
- poisondhearts37

Murray didn't do much for the Kings. Kings players learnt most of there pro careers from Sutter not Murray. Your asking why change coaching now? When did I say fire Nolan now? All I said was instead of getting rid of these players that we already have why not get rid of Nolan. He's clearly not HC material. He is more of a guy that should be an assistant. This team is full of players that Nolan covets, yet he still can't get the job done. I can guarantee you we'd have a much better record if Ruff was coaching us.

Neither would I honestly.

It's like having Crosby and Tavares in the same draft.

I would like that player that immediately puts us back on the map in the NHL though. McDavid is that player.
