That was me. People wonder why he isn't "nasty" enough. This is why.

Could you imagine Chara being kicked out of a game for a shove after the whistle? In a game that they were still in?

- sbroads24

That is not the reason he has never been nasty. It's not part of his mentality, makeup. Some players have it in them some don't. We've seen him play 300+ games and the fact that he might get a misconduct penalty is what makes him soft? We don't know what he did, said on the ice to garner the 10 min misconduct.

I agree McDavid is the clear cut #1, but Eichel is a great prospect.

He would have gone #1 this past draft no question

- sbroads24

Its not a shot at Eichel at all. Like you said he is a great prospect. McDavid is just better than everyone else.

meh...I think the team has had two outstanding drafts...not saying the sabres don't/won't need a player of their caliber, but even without, they could have a pretty damn good team

Obviously I don't think this is really going to happen, but say Buffalo finishes last and the Isles finish second last, and one of those picks win the lottery:

Does Tim Murray simply tell both McDavid and Eichel to come up to the stage simultaneously?

Beauty!!

Exactly my reaction to this article.

Why would we trade our players? They are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing; getting pick one or two. If anyone has anyone has to go it's Nolan. Like I've said many times before he has 0 offense in his system and we will continue to be at the bottom of the league in scoring as long as he is here.

Plus, as stated in the blog, one guy isn't going to single-handedly win you a game.
I'm mostly looking forward to TM's vision as a complete competitave team rather than one guy. At this point, we're still mostly looking at Regiers parts with a few of TMs FA additions.

He's not soft. He's been suspended multiple times for hits. Soft players don't have that happen to them.

Don't you remember him in the playoffs against Philly? He absolutely has it in him. It's another one of the misconceptions about his game

No one guy is not. But Buffalo is not counting on that. When you have a guy who is the best, it makes things a hell of a lot easier for everyone else.

Even if we finish last, which we will, we only have a 20% chance at getting him, those aren't good odds. Odds would say we are getting Eichel whether we like it or not.

I think that buffalo fans are counting on that...I don't believe in saviors...LeBron couldn't save Cleveland...he won his championships with a strong supporting cast

Nolan is a guy you need. Just like the Kings needed Terry Murray. These are guys to teach the players how to play defense and work as a team. I think having Nolan as a coach will pay off later down the road. Why change a coach now. Your not going to the playoffs. Let him build some structure for these guys.

Yes, one playoff series and 300 other games where he turns off the nasty except when he gets speared in his "junk."

Yes.

With the 1st and 2nd pick the Buffalo Sabres select center Connor McDavid and winger Jack Eichel.

I would agree with this If Nolan was in favor of keeping the younger players here to sort of mentor them, and teach them work ethic and professionalism, however he has blatantly said he prefers to have vets.

I don't hate Nolan, but this season is slowly changing the opinion I had of him previously.

With that said, he's better than Rolston or keeping Ruff around

The Fans may be, but the organization is not. It is evident by the amount of prospects and young talent currently on the roster and future high picks.

Again. Having a guy who is just better than everyone else, makes the team better. There is no denying that.

Again, not a knock on Eichel, just saying McDavid is better than him.
