He does have the talent of a Tavares. But its not what you have, but how you use it. He's not using it.
- mykokes

Which he himself said, and he also said it's something he wants to work on.

Only in Toronto do we criticize players for saying they want to work on their work ethic.

I'm not a fan of this 11 and 7 lineup. It worked in the 5-2 win, but that I think had more to do with line one lighting it up, and a hot goalie in the third.

Panik had a breakaway, which was nice to see, but outside of that, he's clumsy with the puck, doesn't take or make passes in full stride. Holland finally started to show something last game but I haven't been impressed with him so far. As for Frattin, I think it's time to see if he can fit back into the lineup.

I'd scratch Kadri for a game if I could. Give Komarov and Holland his second line minutes. Accountability.

Carlyle and Leaf management have to decide what personality that they want/need in a fourth line. Carlyle clearly would seem to want the knuckle-draggers as part of the equation based on his limited use of the fourth line - composed of guys who can skate.

so how's about a little bit of compromise... if they recall anyone (in light of Kozun's injury) .. .let it be Broll or Bodie, both of whom have some size, will hit but can still skate.

we can't expect Panik, Holland and Kozun to provide "energy" by RandyC's definition.

More than ever now. I need a rage pillow to beat the crap out of. Leafs need some info from the Habs. Montreal never seems to lose their cool with the Bruins which drives guys like Lucic nuts. Leafs have to take the same approach...oh, and skate their bags off.

I'm criticizing him on his 2 points in 7 games and his horrible game against Detroit in the 4-1 loss. It's not like this is out of the blue or a knee jerk reaction. I want to see some of that drive and determination he showed in the preseason and i want him to sustain it. By no means am I giving up on him.

so-so

problem has been just lack of leadership

everyone who has leadership out of the lineup...

J staal, E staal, Skinner was until last game, Liles, Dwyer, Gerbe

thats a decent amount of injuries from guys who fill the lineup. especially E AND J.

Travis Moen might be available. But then again, the EE cronies seem to be low on him now

Big fan of them bringing up either broll or bodie, one of the two.

those are TRUE 4th line players...skate, hit, fight, grind but wont score.

im ok with that.

Is Ashton still around?? Why not play him?? Frattin has had some games and been garbage. Give Ashton a game, see if he can do something.

You can't give an assessment on the 4th line if RC isn't going to play them. Panik can't be evaluated as a good/bad pickup if he don't play quality minutes.

What's the use of bringing up Ashton etc from the Marlies if he sits and only plays on the 4th line for 4 minutes taking Fratton's spot. This team seems like it is going down the same road that killed us last year. Our forwards and the win last game was because their goalie was awful not because we dominated. Bernier was our best player.

yea, I was talking about the people going after him for the Tavares thing, without bothering to see what he said... or ignoring the context.

I haven't been able to watch too many games this season, but from the preseason and what I've seen so far, he's looked pretty good, matter of time till the points follow.

But I didn't see the 1st detroit game.
