Trading one of JE14 or NY10 will not sit well with majority of Oil fans, the return will not suit their eye unfortunately.
Can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I agree with Healy.... trade them both.
Our top 6 are too much alike, perimeter danglers that want to score on one timers from the outside far too often.
I'd love to have Couturier, in my mind... he's what we need. - nanook82
That is def something that most people dont really talk about. And is a good point. But if you traded only one of them and split the others up. Like if Yak was traded then Eberle moved off the Hall line. Or if Eberle was traded and Yak didnt take his spot. LOL. Eakins would prolly not put him on that line anyways. |

This is the biggest reason why I dislike Eakins... You can't trust him to do the most obvious thing. He tries to be smarter than everyone else, when doing the easy thing is likely the best for the team. (See Marincin, Martin and Petry, Jeff)

Yup 100%
That's why I'm in favour of trading both. |

Wait a minute though, Yak has had opportunities at times in varying combinations within the top six and with top line players and hasn't always looked so sh!t hot. It's all part of his learning curve. Fukk knows, maybe he's not right for this dynamic but I don't think it's Eakins hate or over thinking in this particular case.
I'm at the very least okay with where he is right now. I'm confident they'll figure it out for him - and he will.
Now, the D you mentioned. Yeah that was a mess. Wonder how much early input Mac-T had on that, if any. |

If he isnt lighting the lamp the way OVI did playing the off wing they should keep playing him at LW IMO. |

they tried him at LW. He just drifts back to RW and hurts his line. Needs a C that isn't Arco or Leon though |

If we trade for a centre that's banged up like Cullen, I'd be more than willing to call Yakimov up for a week or so and still send Draisaitl down.
Let's do what's great for Drai's development if we can. But let's think of this a little more callously: we gotta do what's good for our team winning. If that means sending Drai down to dominate in Jrs. instead of to do worse against better competition in the NHL, do it.
It's not the Edmonton Draft and Development Association, it's the Edmonton Oilers. |

I think he's hurting the production from the middle six. Plus trying to keep Yak and Draisaitl's zonestarts in the high 60s will kill Gordon.
Bring in Cullen/Brodziak/hell Yakimov/Kelly/Z Smith and save wasting a year of LD's ELC |

Eberle has just been traded for Galchenyuk. Him and Yakupov will play on the same line this Friday. |

Scrivens was just traded for Hasek's old mask. Better goaltending ahead. |

Just a whiff of his pube stains would instantly get a hat trick from even the likes of John Scott. |

Centres out of FLA? Bjugstad? Barkov? Can't imagine they'd let one go.
Centres out of PHI? Couturier? Schenn? Not really interested in Schenn and Couturier seems far fetched.
Centres out of STl? Berglund? Not close to worth 14 or 10
Wouldn't mind Byslma. - TheNugeIsHuge
Seems like 10 or 14 would be worth crosby maybe? |

because, of all the names I mentioned, I said only Berglund wasn't enough to centre a deal around, I'm overvaluing 10+14 that much? ok. good talk |

don't know why they'd trade Eberle for a C. That's a pretty huge investment for a guy that would hold the spot for 1-2 years before Draisaitl takes it over. Top D would make more sense. From STL/PHI/FLA who makes sense? Shattenkirk? Sort of redundant with Schultz. Ekblad? Unproven and I bet FLA loves him. Coburn? Not enough to warrant Eberle - TheNugeIsHuge
Nugent-Hopkins is the No. 1 centre, and Boyd Gordon is No. 4.
Insert ahler as third center and second center. unless you keep draisaitl up |
