Healy took took the Tard Talk to a whole new level last night . It seems to me like the analyst panel has taken the worst of sportsnet and CBC and put them all at one table. Elliot Freidman must sit down, take a look around and wonder where his career is going to be surrounded by such total morons like Kypreos, McLean and Healy. - Jeropotato
It really is the worst panels ive ever witnessed |

Didn't think they played that bad at all. Scrivens had to come up with some big saves, but pretty much every goalie has to do that each night. They didn't give up any prime scoring chances and no one was left wide open. Personally, I think that's a pretty good game played for the Oilers.
They were solid in each aspect of the game and didn't look out of place until the 3rd when they were protecting the lead. The goals WSH scored were things of beauty, you can't do much about that first PPG... - NugentHallberle
Yeah there is a good point to be made that although they were being hemmed in they didn't give up the five star chance I guess. And Garner's point is very valid - they didn't take a penalty - that is HUGE. |

Head to the twitterverse for a revolution! Only watch the game play, then change channels whenever the panel is shown. |

From what I saw with the highlights, the boys seem to be coming together quite nicely. Still the odd hiccup, but the D-corps looks much stronger now (finally, thank (frank)).
Not much the team can do when the goalie poops the bed to start the season a la Dubey style. - ChetManly
Actually- if it werent for scrivens we would have easily lost... Petry, Ference, and Fayne all played worse defensively than Jultz... thats quite telling IMO really... The highlights never tell you the entire game... |

Trade picks for players. Send drai down. That is all. - Morris
Would be nice.
You ready to give up our 2015 1st? I see a lot of weak 2016 1st packages.
Tough call. The crap teams may not want to give up a piece they still see as part of their rebuild and average to good teams don't need or desire picks at this juncture.

Did you watch the game? The slot was open several times- the caps just could not beat Scrivens... - The way I saw it the team learned that they could win a game even though they didnt deserve it... Esp with the play in their own end... As for the offensive side of things every line did play very well- ESP the 4th line... they were buzzing all night- Jonesuu is really coming into his own... I thought it was his best game as an Oiler by far.... |

Apparently he likes that move. He did it on the Nikitin play and apparently lots in Junior. The key is for the other guy to shoot.
When he did take the selfish shot on the PP is was horrid - Lahey
Yeah that was a muffin from the top of the slot. |

I did, I was in and out visually through the third but could hear it in the BG.
Just seemed like there weren't fivestar chances but overall a poop tonne of pressure.
Anyway, yeah I hope Scrivens gives them that added confidence to play with a little more swagger. We need that poop.
Loving the 4th line. Massive right now. I just hope 2/3rd lines keep getting more comfortable. Odds are it's unsustainable and I think it will shift but man having that depth is paramount. |

Petry, this years 1st and a prospect should be able to land Oilers a better than good 2C, no?
There should be no need to trade Yak or Eberle. |

The issue I have is the guys that are going to want Petry are probably guys that aren't looking to get 1st rounders. It's almost two different teams.
However you trade Petry in one deal and then package those assets up with our 1st and prospect and yes you should get a pretty decent 2c. |

how has he played? - Pikey Fan
fine for an 18YO, but he's had to have pretty soft deployment and I think it's hindering the offence from the middle six.
I would look at sending a mid pick to nashville for Cullen (though he might be injured) |

Why would we blow our load on a stop gap 2C when we need to find a top Dman? |

completely forgotten about Rinne this year. .940 to start. Wonder if he re-establishes himself as a top goalie |

Would this years and next years 1st get you that Dman?
I believe the Oilers should trade their 1st round picks while their value is high, I cant see them wanting to draft more 1st rounders-they'll be building forever. |

I dont get this, "Second, a glance back at it on the way out the door injected some courage in a young fellow leaving with a girl whose parts would only add up to nine if she was a set of triplets"....
can someone explain to me please? |

I think he is trying to say that taking home a "3" is acceptable.
But i had to read it a few times to grasp what he was trying to get at. |

It's the Oilers....don't you think our 1st has significantly more value than part of a package in the McDavid draft? |

It's so precarious right now - losing Petry just when they have little D depth could be a troubling proposition.
That's why it might be best to shed a winger. Maybe Perron.
Ideally, we make it through this year with measured improvement and the stock of all these wingers and Petry goes up. Though Petry is different situation with his contract.

He had a bad year last year mostly due to injury so I don't think he really lost the top goalie status. |

I wouldn't mess with our forward core atm, other than replacing Arco with a bigger and better centre.
With the Oilers track record, trading our picks should brings us back most of the upgrades we might need. |
