Galchenyuk played on a third line with zero PP time.

Yakupov was -33 last year.

- Biggus Richardus

averaged 8 seconds less a game on the PP than Yak.

on-ice SV% was bottom 5 in the league. Good to know you value +- though. Knew you were dumb. Furthers the thought

Not garbage but not as good as Galchenyuk, far from it.

This is the best part. a few hundred comments of stupidity.

Market dictates value, and best trade offer usually wins.

Lets go back in time and see what Vanek would of got from habs, likely nobody would have guessed it would take only a prospect and a 2nd

exactly my point, there always dumb trades made...I just hope we could be on the good side of it for a change !

Not too far from the truth...

For these 4, i would just do a small switch...

Lundqvist > Price > Quick ~= Rask

So because he refered to Yakupov's horrible +/- it makes him dumb?

Though +/- isn't the most telling of stats, it is noteworthy that yakupov had a significantly worse plus minus as compared to hall and eberle

Personally I feel like you are projecting. Maybe if you werent skipping shop class right now to post on hockeybuzz you would start learning something.

As far as Yakupov is concerned. He has started out slowly as a first overall pick as compared to former picks: McKinnon, Hall, Nugent Hopkins, Tavares, Stamkos etc. etc.

True story, but consider several of the bigger trades last year and outside factors impacted the players trade value.
1. Vanek made it as clear as possible that he would be testing free agency no matter what and it had been known for a year he wanted to go to Minni, making him a pure rental and driving down his trade value.
2. Both Kesler and Spezza excercising NMC and asking for a trade handcuffs the seller badly.

Dealing talented players on reasonable contracts ( or in Yaks case an ELC) should get a much closer return to the sellers hopes.

Having said that, the buyers dictate the value no matter what, so I agree with your point.

I wouldn't say he started slowly so much as he was the only one of those to have a tough sophomore season.
Compare rookie seasons and he's basically in line.

With a bad crop of ufas this year a name like Eberle could attract alot of attention especially cause he is under contract.

Ur assuming market value in relation to my my ideas on what the oilers actually need.

Difference is; your assumptions on based on an Eklund rumour. Mine are actually what we need.
Not to mention that no one is forcing edm to make a deal if they don't like the return

Totally agreed on the 'stupidity' bro.

apparently the cap isn't an important factor in today's nhl. Nor is playoff hockey, nor is the fact that you are on the first line of the worst hockey team in the leauge.

Somebody has to score for every team in the NHL. Pacioretty is top line player on playoff hockey team. Eberle is top line player with three 1st overall players he can play with on any given night for one of the worst hockey teams in the NHL. This point is important imo, since Malkin and Crosby really have an inflationary effect on their linemates.

Also style of play is important, Edmonton plays a little looser whereas the habs have typically been a defense first team, especially under Jacques Martin.

I think comparatively you should be arguing who is today, and tomorrow the better hockey player. I'd say it would be arguable at best still, but slight edge to Eberle.

- Biggus Richardus

Just a point but the whole hockey world the year after Eberle was drafted said he developed so well in just that one year that he would of went number one in the draft. He makes people around him better just our 1st overall picks

I can live with putting Rask equal or ahead of Quick but as much as it pains me (you HAVE NO IDEA!) Price is now ahead of Rask...

For years I bashed Price but last season + playoffs, he finally became what he was claimed to be by habs fans!

Boston would have won the series (and in quick enough fashion too) if Price would have been back to his usual "playoff performance" but he was phenomenal and gave the habs the momentum with that first game win... And continued his great play for the rest of the Bruins series...
Question is, can he repeat again this year? Will he get hurt again? (3 times in the past 2 years!) ...you would think the habs will try to manage his games and let Tokarski play at least 20-25 games...

I think if Price hadn't gotten injured that the rangers/habs series would of went to 7

In that series Rask let in some goals he shouldn't have. But with the exception of Boychuck, Soderberg and Iginla the whole team hung him out to dry. I've never bashed Carey Price, his poopty laundry aside, he is hard not to like. But if I am picking I take Lundqvist above anyone but I would go Rask before Price. He's proven more, and I believe his best years are still to come.

75% of the team are scrubs....
- Mr_Smokey

Ill take a team of 75% scrubs that make the playoff and are the top of their division anyday of the week. Look at Chicago. A star studded 1st line a useful older 2nd line (experience) and nothing but scrubs (role players) 3rd and 4th liners.

Where as u have a team that is star studded with 1st overalls and cant get out of the basement sellers. By time the young dman arrive in edmonton your big four will be well into their contracts and when free agency hits you will lose a couple.

As for the argument of eberle or patch. Is tough. Patch is a pure goal scorer with size and speed on a line littered with smaller less talented players. Eberle is a play maker with speed and great iq and plays with two extremEly talented players of his mangnitude. If the roles were reversed and patch was with Edmonton where would his points total be?? Would the two players be comparables?
