Cool site, shows you lied about Stoner's on ice goals against... and Regehr's.

Uhh, what? Click on the link. If you look at the "GA On" column, it shows that Stoner has 6 even strength goals against. If you change the selector at the top to 4v5, you'll see that he has 1 shorthanded goal against. I know reading is hard, but come on....

Stoner is a role player, get over your video game evaluations.

Stoner's "role" is defense. His job is to keep pucks out of the net while chewing up some of the minutes while your top four guys are resting. So far he hasn't done that good of a job at it, as evidenced by the 7 GA. If my argument was that he sucks because he hasn't scored any goals, then you could blast me up and down the internet for making a stupid argument. However, if you get more than your share of goals scored on you, you're not so good at defense. I concede your point that Greene isn't so good at defense this year (or last year). His play has taken a pretty big hit since he sat out for most of 2012-13 with an injury. He just isn't the same guy that he was in June 2012.

Lindholm is the only player who can be sent to the A. Unless Vatanen is traded to get Myers, or there is an injury, Lindholm would have to go to make room.

One of Stoner, Fistric, or Allen would be traded to get Myers. The other two would ride the pine and be available in case of injury. That's the whole point of the trade. Your three young stud defensemen wouldn't (and shouldn't) go anywhere.

You like sites that have errors. Somehow the Ducks have managed to get 8 extra players on the ice for goals against. Check the NHL.com boxscores. Stoner has only been on the ice for 5 GA and 2 were while he was on the PK. The official game summaries have him on the ice for 1 PP GA @ Pit, 1 EV GA @ Det, 1 EV GA @ Buf, 1 PP GA @ Phi, 1 EV GA vs Min and that's it. I know how to read but apparently you never learned to count. Your research is so inept its not even funny. He's played 3 games in a row now where no goals have been scored while he is on the ice. And its not his job to keep pucks out of the net, that's a goaltender's job.

As for Myers, Allen is injured and Fistric is a healthy scratch so he isn't replacing either of them. If you think Myers would play paired with Vatanen or Fowler, then you are more of a dolt than I thought. The only option is to play him with Beauchemin or Lindholm. I really don't think Beauchemin will drop off the 2nd pair. As you said, the young guys shouldn't go anywhere and that's why the Ducks don't need him. That's why the trade doesn't work.

If you really think that, then I am skeptical about your knowledge of hockey. Listen to a Jonathan Quick interview after any shutout. "They may put my name down in the record book, but every shutout is a 20-man effort." The goaltender may be your last line of defense, but he's certainly not the only one tasked to keep pucks out of the net.

While I think Lindholm/Myers would be an exceptional pairing, I think Myers/Fowler would probably be better. Vatanen is an offense-only guy, and would do better paired with a more defensively sound player. I think Lindholm is that player. He has the best GA/TOI ratio of anyone on the Ducks, but isn't an offensive liability either. If you like Lovejoy on a line with Fowler for some crazy reason, then you could do Myers with Lindholm and Beauchemin with Vatanen. I don't think either of us would disagree that Beauchemin is a better defensive defenseman than Stoner, so this pairing would immediately get better. Lindholm/Myers would be a better first pairing than Fowler/Lovejoy, so that would be your new first pairing. Like I said before, I think Lindholm will turn out to be a better two-way defenseman than Fowler will.
