So I was watching Shink last night and he was on the ice a lot and I don't mean time wise. It was like Raymond 2.0. He has an NHL shot and skill set but his strength isn't there yet. It will be a bit before he makes the jump. |

So you are saying we have a new Raymond and now we need a Booth and Ballard.
Burrows and Edler? |

So you also saw the breakaway that turned into a wrap around attempt.... I agree he needs to work on his game but that's okay, he has lots of time and Utica looks like a better team this year. Hopefully our prospects are able to gain some confidence and come together as a group so they are ready to contribute in the NHL. |

I guess not blackmail. but sitting him on the classic game, and various over moves were out right snubs.
poorly played - numbear
He asked for a trade (while having a NTC, ) so he didn't want to be on this team. So why does he get to play in a marquee game like the Classic?
Now look at him. Wallowing in obscurity further from the cup than he has ever been. |

This passive-aggressive troll has worn out his welcome here. It's best to shun him and he will eventually seek attention elsewhere. |

Yep.
When Lu lamented about his contract sucking, was that before or after the Schneider trade?
Short term giving a feck is going in my middle age, but I thought the Canucks were trying to smooth things over and keep Lu happy in a not so pleasant situation and maybe mend some broken fences.
I guess once you ask for a trade, your heart or loyalties can't be seen to be really tied to the team anymore. I give Lu credit for being professional to a large extent.
But when he said his contract sucked. I think that hurt his trade value, which hurt both his and the club's position.
I liked the shrugger and wish we could have kept him, but he was easier to trade.
Lu was the #1, given the huge contract and as soon as Schneids started proving himself, he should have been traded. Fecking Gillis screwed it up and sold low to some extent on both. |

I think that Owners and GMs should push for a new clause in the next CBA that if a player has a NTC and requests a trade, said NTC should become null and void. |

There should be at least some more rules- would like the elimination of the full ntc and have players provide a minimum of 5 teams they would accept a trade to...
If players can waive ntc's or request trades, what is with the perceived big black mark against gm's when they request the player to waive? |

Really, I lay all the blame at his feet, he should have kept his mouth shut after being replaced as the starter in the playoffs, but to come out right after the game and say "it looks like the team is going in a different direction, and maybe I should move on" instantly the pressure was on Gillis and Lu put it there. Lu got what he deserved and the Canucks have to pay for it. |

That news conference where he actually said his contract sucked is what upset me the most of everything that happened.
Goalies are different creatures, a different position and handling them requires a different approach. Sounds silly, but I don't think too many people would argue with that statement.
Look at NJ after Shneids arrived. Brodeur was all sulky, he didn't want to give up the #1 spot and felt it was still his.
Just about everyone says you can't have two #1's. It might work for a little while, but sooner or later you have to decide what one is your #1.
Lu could have acted a little bit better, but I think coach and gm could have avoided the situation entirely with better management of assets.
And then when Schnieds was traded, it happened all over again with Lack. |
