They should trade their next two 1st round picks. The Oilers would be in a much better situation if they would of traded one of their #1s prior.

I agree whole heartedly. We have almost all the key 'Key' future positions pretty much covered, but Draisaitl, Nurse and Klefbom can't do much to help the Oilers for a few more years. Move the next 2 firsts and some other pieces for some help now in the form of a top pairing, minute eating 2-way D and a binaries 2C that knows what the D Zone is and we have a goddamned chance. Right now we are marginally improved on paper at best.

Or waiting for draft day and trading the #1...Remember the haul Quebec got for Lindros? That package allowed Colorado to win cups.

The rebuild was a total organization rebuild. Prior to Katz buying the team the oilers were treading water and had no development systems.

Lowe has rebuilt the entire organization since 2010. We now have an Ahl team, an ECHL team and a WHL team all under the oilers umbrella to develop our guys in house. We never had that before. He rebuilt the entire scouting organization and put a European base in which never existed before.

We are just starting to see the depth in the organization now that we have not had.

People want instant results and it just doesn't work that way.

No as in a history of poor pro-scouting, poor drafting, poor development of those picks and rushing players to the NHL.

MacTavish has only been at the reigns for a short time frame but there is a major shakeup needed from the amateur and pro scouting departments, to player development, to decision making.

I think the poster expects instant results. He doesn't realize that it takes an average of 4 years for a 2nd or 3rd rounder to become an NHL player.

If adding a couple of backup goalies and 3rd-4th line players is an overhaul they Oilers should probably just blow the whole thing up again. At some point you have to stop digging the hole, crying over the spilled milk, etc and move on.

If they're going to do the bare minimum they should maybe get an NHL calibre center or two and some guys 3rd-4th line guys who can play good defensively.
