Yep.

I've even seen some trouba hindsight getting thrown around abit.
As if he was on anyone's radar for first.

Murray's rookie season on ir > yaks leading goals and points

It always amazes me that people look back and say. You should have taken this guy at this pick. But fail to realize that all the other teams who picked before that pick also thought theyre pick was the better pick.

Friedman stated yesterday Petry will be moved some point this year...

and as good as he is and important to the current Oilers core, I think its the right move, cant risk losing your best upgradable asset for nothing and then be forced to move Eberle or Yak to try and make the same upgrades that wanted to make with Petry

agree... I think Detroit- Edmonton always tries to honour players desires if possible... Detroit would be a great fit for Petry..

Some teams were scared to take him. The russian factor was strong at that time. Esp with him playing in Russia. He would have been nice for the Avs right now.

apparently that was the plan to take him, but Ott and Blues made that deal for Runblad and that pick, Blues swooped in there and grabbed him right before our pick.

I do love deals like that though. When a team moves up to get theyre guy.

I think they resign him. The others they brought in have not taken his place so they will have to give him a serious offer.

I assume Kindl would be coming back your way just for salary reasons. not sure who else. Prospect like Tyler Bertuzzi and maybe a mid round pick?

Conditional if the can extend him that the pick changes to a 2nd.

Kind of blah, but its the standard deadline player type of deal. Roster Player, Prospect and pick.

Now if you can get Dekeyser out of the deal, thats more interesting

2 years@5 mil
?

I just wonder if this satisfies him for abit and still gives him an option for a huge payday at a date where he's not washed up yet.

We need the guy, but we need a few decent value contracts at present as well.

anything over 6 and we gotta move him.
if he plays like he is now, make the offer by december

Those are the tough decisions to be made. Selling high on younger players not deemed to be part of the core and cutting ties with veterans for the same reason.
- Tumbleweed

Agreed they are tough, but I don't think anyone in the Organization figured that we could just draft the BPA's , collect assets and develop role players and win a cup with 23 drafted and/or self developed players.
There will come a time when we have to sit back , count our assets and start dealing much like The Kings did. I didn't think we were there even up to the draft last year but after the free agency period saw the Oilers add some good players I think were close to that point now.

I'd be fine with 2 years at 5 per. Better value than most of our d.

I think there are plenty of examples to use to get him at 4 per. 5 is a bit.

You don't buy the rumours that he's likely not re-signing in EDM?

The entire mismanagement group should go. Hanging on to ex-oilers from the glory days and giving them jobs doesn't work. We have a pool going to see how long it is going to take them to figure it out.

You buying their story that his gf "fell down" and the cops misunderstood them when they arrested him?
